Damn, I really want to bump the Korg/Big 3 analog synth pissing contest thread from the other week with this information, but it was locked. Oh,well. I guess the discussion (told-ya-so/ monotribe's not the same as what I mean when I said thay wouldn't make an analog synth/ it's not really analog because...) can continue in this thread.

I am 100% more excited about this than Roland slapping the Jupiter name on a VA.

IF this is real and it is actually what it sounds like (monotron + step sequencer) that would be amazing. That's basically a new 303!

I can't wait. But probably better to hold off any flame baiting until we know more than just a name trademark that conveniently popped up on April Fools... the posts I'm contemplating in my head will all make me look like an a-hole if it turns out the "monotribe" is a VA EA1 remake or something.

commence the speculation

Image

Looks like a combination between little monotron knobs and larger, high quality knobs and cool switches....So, Saw, Triangle, Square Oscillators... VCF& VCA tags...little sequencer step LEDs and push-buttons, next to a button that says "activate step"... what could the wide/narrow "Range" toggle be controlling? Variable-slope filter since it's right next to the resonance control? Knob that looks like it ends with "ase" next to the wave shape - is "phase" ever used to mean pulse width?

I don't think this is a joke.

Why? Because Korg understands what it's customers want and adapts accordingly. I wouldn't be surprised if something like this is quite real.

Im hoping its real. If it is I hope they put out schematics and label the important solder points like they did on the monotron. I just added CV, gate, and cut off cv to my Monotron and I couldn't be happier.
