Another New/Classic OBERHEIM!!

Post by shaft9000 » Mon May 09, 2011 3:19 am

He's gone and done it!
The TVS lives!!!

The SoFV is a bit much for me, but this one should be an absolute cracker. I've played an original for a brief spell and it was oh-so thick and rich....

now with velocity and aftertouch

This isn't new news though is it? We've known he was working on a new TVS since before the SoFV was announced, there's still no eta for it, and that's not even a picture of a prototype or anything, it's an old one.

I am actually keen on the idea of the new TVS, especially if it has polyphonic midi out, but wake me when something actually happens.

Nope, he mentioned working on a new TVS before.
But the Matrixsynth post mentions "a new mysterious X product". That got me interested. Maybe an entirely new synth and not a re-issue/re-working of an older model?

I guess any TO news is happily received, but it sounds pretty speculatory at this point. I'd imagine he's going to focus on getting the S04V out first, but after that, it shouldn't be too hard to knock it down and throw on a kbd.

I'd rather Tom go to work on a new OB-1. I'd rather have a good Oberheim mono than a re-issue of the TVS. Why would I need a 2-voice synth? For a bi-timbral keyboard split maybe, but then it better have at least 49 keys.

"rumor has it the "X" project is a new Oberheim OB-X poly synth. "

Well f**k me running!

If it's smaller, lighter and cheaper than an original I'll sell my '65 Slingerlands to get one.

One for the built in sequencer and one voice for the keyboard. Or in mono, each voice for a different part of one sound. If the both SEMs are patchable ... craziness.

No, it's definitely not a polysynth. The TVS will be the next thing he releases followed eventually by the long overdue SO4V

I'd be very exited about a new OB polysynth.
