Alesis Micron NRPN chart on Yahoo! Groups

Post by gridsleep » Tue Jun 28, 2011 10:08 am

For all you Micron users and programmers, I have created a new and complete NRPN chart in PDF. I was dismayed and disgruntled upon viewing the half-hearted PDF available from Alesis's web site. After much effort, woe, and some very welcome assistance I have created the definitive PDF of Micron NRPN. I wish I could attach it here but VSE has no facility for uploading files. Please go to the Yahoo! Groups Ion/Micron/Miniak group at http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/alesis-ion/ to download it. Join up if you are a user of one of these fine and frustrating machines and have not done so, yet. We brigands have to stick together. Even though the Micron is the best bang for the buck synthesizer in history (dare I call it the VW Beetle of synthesizers? Yes, I dare, especially when you consider those foxy gents who put Porsche engines in their VWs and left Chargers and GTOs eating their dust at the stop lights, ha!) we still need all the ammunition we can get to wrestle this stubborn beast into submission.

Yeah I had seen this , however it seams to leave out a few bits ... Such as MSB/LSB and Data Fine and Data course which you will need if your looking to set up a controller .

I also have no idea about what you mean by the "XYZ" other than speaking of the micron/miniak's XYZ knobs , but if so why 3 different number sets ?

Here is some of my own data I have decoded .... not a complete set , but just haven't had the time/desire just yet .

OSC and Voice sections in RTF format

Regardless It's nice to see others working on it and not just asking the Q's to the void as it were .
Some wish to leave their mark ... I want to leave a scar .

X/Y/Z have different number ranges. An assigned function can have three different values, depending on whether you assign it to X, Y, or Z. Also, any discrepancies have been corrected. The chart is as complete as it can ever be. Pity there isn't a controller out there that can handle negative values the way the Micron wants. Only the Novation Remote and Behringer BCR-2000 can handle the 14-bit values needed by many of the Micron's functions. If anyone knows of others, please post. I've gone through all the manuals I can find, and even the venerable BitStream Pro only provides 7-bit values.
