Intense warfare:

Interesting (albeit slightly unfocused) discussion on what drum machine Prince used for the track here: http://www.ilxor.com/ILX/ThreadSelected ... adid=66654 - sounds like it has those DMX claps to me though.

As far as things played by live drummers are concerned..

I'm aware Bernard Purdie came up with that particular flavor of shuffle, but Bonham playing it on that Ludwig kit, man..

Also (starting at 1:56)

Notice how Bob Marley (with permission) lifted some of the horn melodies for "Get Up, Stand Up"

I love the songs that usually pop out in these kind of threads... :D

In an entirely different tone from previous entries, here is a track of pure 6/8 Drumulator bliss:

MY. GOD.

The most incredible drum machine pattern I've ever heard. Period. Speaks to me on allll my favorite levels.

Outside of this ^ new one, the pattern in Air's 'Electronic Performers' (10,000 Hertz) is one of mine favorites as well.

Keep 'em coming!

Ultravox - "The Thin Wall"

Perhps it's the Linn/Synare/Minimoog-combination, but this is some seriously funky junk in any case!

^^^Mama beat is classic!^^^

Kerri Chandler's Raw Grooves EP on a large system is kick-drum heaven. Nobody does kicks that deep even today.

Blue Monday is an obvious one for me. It pointed the way forward at the time for dance music.

+1 mantronix
+1 DJ Shadow, too.

Saw some new order on here. As far as drum machine work goes, Confusion might be my favorite example of that.

Some more nice processing and intense hits inspired by a previous poster, I saw Shout, and for me, this one's better on drums.

Samplers* are more fun though.

Prick : Riverhead
A good album , but not like my fave of all time . Though something about the simple beat ( around 1:38) just does it like no other .

Loving what I am finding in this thread.
Here's two more great ones:

Spyder D - Smerphies Dance (Roland TR-808)
Classic hip-hop track

Notorious BIG - Juicy (Linn LM1)

Here's an instrumental version. Even though this is really a loop from a Mtume song I like how Puff re-arranged it. This entire album was almost all made of legally-questionable long loops though.

And the other one there's no decent audio at the 'tube so go easy on my webhosting on this one:

Colm III - You Take me high
I am no longer in pursuit of vintage synths. The generally absurd inflation from demand versus practical use and maintenance costs is no longer viable. The internet has suffocated and vanquished yet another wonderful hobby. Too bad.
