Re: just me? or do youtube demos all suck
I personally like expanding the definition of a demo to include videos like AutomaticGainsay's but also videos like Jexus', and even noise stuff that might not seem useful to some people. as long as the video is shot good enough and it sounds clear, and there aren't too many effects, it's ok.
a good example I think of something smack in the middle of performance and demonstration is this video below. but not all demos have to be like this. this is just in the middle. it's ok to be on either side too I think.
this one too

Yea I guess haha - although I still don't understand why a bunch of relevant stuff is omitted from the search results - sometimes I only find videos because of direct links of site.ninja6485 wrote:DLovas wrote:the dude almost blew my computer speakers...
i clicked on the video based on the picture i saw in on the sidebar of suggestions - not thinking twice - and the loud noise was very startling - at which point i stopped watching the video. I didn't see the title until after i had seen all i needed to see.
Do i know the difference between a post and a thread?
yes. i do. the original post is what i was referring to - i should have made it more explicit.
it seems that no matter what i say i will be alone in my opinion, thus i see no point in arguing any further.
you win.
as petty as it looks, I'm going to have to disagree with you again! But this time to your credit. I think you CAN articulate your opinion in a way that doesn't step on the modular people's toes. I, personally don't own any modular equipment, and I can't appreciate that demo. Maybe a little from owning an odyssey, because that noise did sound nice and frothy which I like. But otherwise, I'd rather watch other things. So I sort of agree with you, except my view is not that the demo is lacking but that my apreciation is. You can look closely at what your about to critique and do the same thing. Because really, you never know what you might come to appreciate in the future. Just don't get too wishy washy and carried away: you don't want to risk automatic gainsay levels of bafoonery

While I have no issue with what they are doing in the video, I really wish people would label "fooling with..." videos as such, rather than pretending what they have uploaded is a useful online resource.

not to revive this old thread,
but just saying i've uploaded a new fizmo demo. I find my synth playing to be rather embarrassing, but I don't really care, because I am proud of the patch I have created here.
thus to redeem my bad performance...
here is an instance of the same fizmo patch used in a current work in progress of mine:
the patch can be heard as the pad sound beginning at 1:05

I'd watch your whole demo, David, but, I'm not allowed to watch Fizmo demos.
