MG-1. Bought it in 2004. Traded up to a Source a couple of years later, then when that one got sick went to a couple of different Little Phatties that didn't work all that well. Sold out and went with a Lancet Mono instead. It's not as burly as either the Source or the LP, but like a modern version of the MG-1. I am beginning to save towards a Voyager. Maybe in another year or so I'll get back into one.

Sad story for some student at Eastern Kentucky University - good for me. Kid needed bus fare home - sold his Mini (D) for $75.00.

He got the cash, I got the Moog. That was near 15 years ago, so statute of limitations has run out !
I did wonder why the serial number was filed off. (LOL)

Moog MG-1

Didn't liked the sound and got a Micromoog which has a better tone.

To each their own. The micromoog has a lower more subsonic bass tone to be sure, but there are a few feature the MG1 has which it lacks. Like ring mod and two oscs plus the "polyphony" voice. Though teh MG1 lack a pitch or mod wheel/ribbon. I prefer the flip switches on the MG-1 and Rogue to the slider switches on the Micromoog and Multimoog.

1983 and I was like 12. My older brother was in a cover band and always brought home keyboards to try out. One day he brought home a MOOG Liberation. Back then, I remember it being so big and heavy that I certainly couldn't strap it on but god did I want to play with that thing! It was like a guitar but a keyboard. My little impressionable mind was blown!

Almost 30 years later and I'm lucky enough to have a Voyager in my studio!

My first Moog was a broken Sonic Six, my first working Moog was a Source. I still have them both, though the Sonic Six remains broken (but not for very much longer).

my first experence with a moog: played a little phatty at sam ash and diddn't really like it. went back several times trying to appreciate it, and I still don't like it. i played the rattiest model D in the world at some guy's apt. in philly, and that was awesome...missing keys and what not...it was bad. still sounded great though. if the price matched the conditon, which i think it did, what the h**l? i'd take it 8-)
This looks like a psychotropic reaction. No wonder it's so popular...

The slider switches on the Micromoog are quite annoying I have to recognize.
But the Micromoog has some kind of a ring mod with the filter mod. I have found it much more versatile than the one on the MG-1.
The best thing on the MG-1 is the oscillator section. But still, the Micromoog has a genuine vintage sound.

Yeah me too. :(

Sometimes I go to my local music store and play the oldschool they got there. Way more fun than the lil phatty for sure. I think an there's RME in my future. Either that, or a friends ratty old Rogue. Probably a RME.
