RMI Harmonic Synthesizer - Tell Me More!

Post by HideawayStudio » Mon Sep 12, 2011 11:29 pm

I've been really kicking myself here - A rare opportunity and I completely forgot to have a closer look at the very synth I've been very curious about for years and years now in the flesh (and it was switched on!!!) the other day whilst visiting a friend's studio. I did get to cast my eye over the infamous ARP 2500 and Moog 55 modulars though - what beautiful beasts!!

Can anyone tell me a little more about how this unusual beasty works and point me in the direction of some demos - there is no listing on VSE or A to Z!! Some schematics would be really cool too.

Those are very rare. The best page I've seen on them is:

 err yes well um....

What I'm particularly interested in knowing is what the frequency intervals are between each band.

Hfinnie had one briefly, bought from oldgearguy IIRC; you might try pming either of them for some first hand feedback.

Plenty of digital synths on the list- CMI, NED, D50 etc. etc. It's VSE, not ASE...

I'm guessing that was actually about the A to Z of Analogue Synthesisers, not VSE.

Exactly, that is what you get when you read posts fully madtheory. The A to Z by Peter does not contain any digital synths.

The problem is you referred to "VSE and A to Z" simultaneously, so it was not clear that you were referring only to Forrest's book.

So does anyone know what the frequencies are...

Thank you very much indeed for these - I like the way you've applied the instrument in these demos - interesting stuff and a great insight.
