Synths used by The System (David Frank)

I've been into this band a lot lately...The sounds are so crisp and awesome. Micke, I'm sure you know plenty about David and his works?

Supposedly, the band name came from Frank's use of the Oberheim "System": OB-Xa, DMX/DX and DSX. Not sure what Oberheim gear he acutally used on their early albums, but MiniMoog was definately used.

Here's a scan from Feb. 88 Keyboard:

If/when I have time, I can dig up the magazine and see if there is more info on the equipment used.

Their first album Sweat (1983) was recorded with an OB-Xa, DMX, DSX, Minimoog (basslines) and a memorymoog.
For their next two albums, X-periment (1984) and The Pleasure Seekers (1985), he added a DX-7,
Yamaha TX rack with four modules, OSCar, PPG wave 2.3 w/waveterm, Emulator II, Yamaha DX-1 (used as a master
controller) and a Linn 9000 (which by 1985/86 was his main drum machine & sequencer). He also had an OB-8 and
Simmons modules (don't know if the Obie made it onto any of these albums though) - and by late '85/early '86 he
got a Matrix-12 (which can be seen in the photo posted above).

Yeah, here's a pic of David with some of his synths (New York, Feb 26. 1986):

Sounds like a Roland R8 on drums in that clip.

David Frank is seriously good.

Genie in the bottle for example is very well programmed.
