As I posted above, my Virus TI worked just great. So has every other piece of USB/MIDI+audio gear I've used.

I just follow the directions.

If it says no hub, then no hub. I dl the latest drivers, etc. I also work on a Mac these days, when I was on Windows I often had to do things like remove and reinstall drivers.

Pro keyboards will continue to have MIDI connectors for some time into the future. Consumer stuff won't, certainly the trend for controllers and home keyboards as USB only will continue.

Have you seen this thing from Kenton yet? $100 to convert USB controllers to MIDI :yahoo:

I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

I found a DIY version too . I will post the link when I get to my desktop.

Will the 5 pin din ever go away ? I would be inclined to say yes , but it will depend on if the tech becomes cheap enough to implement stand alone USB host chips in the midi devices . Another option that perplexes me ; look at most of the small midi ports for iOS devices. 5pin din to 2.5 mm plug ... Just a case of how it's wired no ?
