Even though I do not have a modular, having had the experience of using one, I would have to say that this is very true. I am constantly considering just building a modular, due to it being so "hands on" and you get so involved with patch making. It's almost like instant gratification from the moment of insight to the implimentation. I have Voyager RME+ vx351/352 and I love what I have been able to do with them, but theyre not even close to being a real modular.

The only draw back is the price, but however I am sur eyou pay for what you get.

Anything that has an option other than just playing it.. sequencers.. arps.. recorders... basically the opposite of the piano. Piano inspires yes... but not workflow..

Any synth that you know really well.
Now. Your mood and your attitude are more important.

Another one = anything going through my RE-20 Space Echo.
I'm jones-ing for a proper reverb unit again after seeing the eventide Space demos. Used to have a Lexicon but now I'm using plugins during recording. Which now I realize sucks because my workflow starts with the computer powered DOWN.

MV8800 - instant access to tons of samples/drums, sequences other gear with ease.
VGA monitor/mouse + DAW like interface minus a computer is a huge plus.

My 606 came in yesterday and i didnt see this post having been lost in the awesome workflow vortex i've found in it. So much so that as soon as i got pattern group 1 full of my patterns, i shot my first youtube video(tr-606 through indigo 2). Congrats on the 707, i've got my sites on one now to keep the 606 from being lonely(and midi).

Me too... it's so easy I used to play it while driving.
Just run it thru the tape deck!

I find the magic comes most often from whatever instrument or combination I have set aside for awhile. This week it is my ZOOM MRT-3B drum machine into KORG Monotron into KORG Mini-KP.

Next week it might be my CASIO MT-70's "jazz organ" preset played through a phase shifter, or acoustic guitar. I always seem to discover fresh musical ideas after a reunion.

:D
