Can anyone offer some insight on how to synthesize this

Post by junoprodigy » Tue Dec 13, 2011 8:57 pm

The long and slow, phasing, high resonance sound you hear beginning here...it repeats a few times. He hits the notes once and it blasts off from there. The synthesizer is a Juno 106. I'm thinking something like reversing the envelope on the amplifier? Other idea was LFO but I don't think that is how he is doing it...

It sounds like hes just holding the note, and then slowly moving the filter cutoff up by hand. Thats how I would do it.

The 106 only has one env. filter that it shares between vca and vcf. You can invert the env. going to the filter and maybe get that sound. Ill have to mess around on my 106 and see. I would think filter sweeping by hand would be the easiest since you can do it on any synth with a knob.

LOL at the replies to sweep the filter by hand.

Anyway, I did figure it out - and it is indeed accomplished by inverting the envelope on the filter
