Re: Winter NAMM 2012
that synthtopia post put me off quite a bit as well. yet: it's rather vague and bland and could mean just about anything.
"Mono solo section with up to six oscillators: two virtual analog, two PCM, noise, and external audio;"
virtual analog = who knows? could be simple, could be interesting
pcm = general midi etc or something more involved?
noise = Is that really a feature worth putting out there as a selling point?
external audio = ummmmm that's not an oscillator unless you're talking about sampling.....
but yes - it seems rather basic. i can't imagine they'd put out another yamaha psr / casio wk but at a HIGHER price point unless it actually had a few tricks up its sleeve.

Re: Winter NAMM 2012
nord drum only has 1 output. its also kinda hard to get excited about a VA drum box, imo. we'll see how it sounds though... it could sound incredible - nord doesn't make crappy products.

Re: Winter NAMM 2012
Nord drum looks rad! Looks more like something for drummers and percussionists than synth heads, the drummer in my band is currently doing something similar to this with a G2, I'll get her to check this out.

Only one out? That's kinda weird. Still, I wonder how it will sound? I'm a percussionist, so I think I'll pick this up someday.

Re: Winter NAMM 2012
I think the single output shows its designed as an additional part of a drum kit rather than a studio tool. Looks great for live use I reckon.

for $600 usd it better be pretty solid and sound fantastic. Them thar triggers better trigger stuff like they're supposed!
I must say the idea of a virtual analog drum machine of any expense makes me want to vomit though i'm not necessarily certain why it "should" - there's none I can think of for it to compete against.

Holy s**t, people bitching about something new on VSE when they've only seen the pictures and don't really know anything about it!

Re: Winter NAMM 2012
I am going to remove replies like the above from my 'VSE Bitching list'. I am now going to add them to the "I am so important that everything I intend to buy and not buy...is important to you, the manufacturer and well, anyone who reads what I post"
I do believe because we (THE VSEers at large) are so darned picky/knowledgeable/own so much stuff that we cannot help but consider our opinions to be a big deal. Honestly, who gives a F%^&* what your music/studio/band/girlfriend/bestfriend/boss/mate/cuzzin/homie needs/wants?
Do you really...really care if Griffin Avid likes a product? Finds it useful? Adds it to his shopping list?
Didn't think so.
But I will still complain when something does not strike my fancy.
I mean-Most of these companies exist to make stuff I LIKE.
It's true.
They get bummed out when I disagree with their corporate/design/marketing decisions.

True. Even if I do not like an instrument, I try not to b***h about it. I mean the best thing to do at that point is sell it to someone who wants to use it. Or not buy it. Problem solved, as if there was a problem to begin with, but whatevs.griffin avid wrote:....

Re: Winter NAMM 2012
Actually my point was to share a retail price and more/less just make a statement as opposed to a complaint.
Drum triggering stuff can be either simple/complex and be c**p/awesome but simple does not equal junk, and vice-versa. For what id consider top dollar, a unit that would seem rather simple must be top quality for it to be of value. Thankfully nord has that going for it, but when i think of drum triggers, i dont think nord as a general rule.
My statement about virtual analog was sharing that it makes me feel all kinds of meh inside. And yet idk why it should considering its the naturla order of things that there "should" be one.
Heres where i inject my opinion: it doesnt do it for me unless the triggers and midi implementation are very good, and the sound designing is very flexible. If all those features are implemented as good as they should be (it is nord, so chances are itll be pretty quality) its a nice little add on to a drum kit. I would probably still go with a second hand drumkat and then basically anything else, but thats just me.
