Identify these synths

Post by thared33 » Thu Jan 19, 2012 8:57 am

This is from the late 80s, around 88-89 or so.

(bass patch & blown bottle-ish patch)

(bottle blow-type patch)

(patch at :44)

(piano patch & flute/bottle patch

(again, the flute/bottle thing)

(voice patch)

I suspect a Fairlight series 3, because the bass sounds like the analogue bass samples on that machine. Hard to be sure though. It's nothing special that could not be recreated without vintage gear.

I've been looking for the Fairlight III library forever. Seems it's not available anywhere in any format.

Might look at the Korg M1, that first vid at 1:00 there's a choir type sound that reminds me of Korg. Also the Orchestra hit sounds like E-mu Proteus.

There's a Korg M1 VST that I should check out.

I've never heard with any of the Proteus stuff. On the Vintage Synth page it says that 4mb has been taken from the EIII library. I've got the 8CD collection for EIII/EIIIx but not sure if that's exactly what it was taken from. Is there a difference between the EIII/EIIIx library?

I'll have to do some searching and see if there are any sounds on the Proteus...

The Korg M1 choir was sampled from the Fairlight. There 's a selection from the 3 library on the Fairlight US site IIRC.
