That's pretty badass. This is not unlike how Open Labs started all this thinking about hardware/software/PC integration. Good man - he mounted the LCD away from the outputs.

As far as the mods at the beginning of the video go, that requires some electronics knowledge. But the laptop logistics appears more a mechanical/physical integration. Notice how it still runs on its own power supply with a separate switch. He's just disassembled the components, built them into the synth case, and patch-wired some kind of audio interface.
