That was a fair bit better than I was expecting. I wouldn't call it synth nerd-ism though, it's a pretty common thing in noise music.

177 pages of "guitar pedal modulars" to wade through:

Your performance on that setup sounded positively synth-y though.

been doin that -^ with a crappy behringer (feedbackloops using aux channel+fx chains) for like 8 years now :P

this piece was made with such a setup.. initial sound is a pad/drone from a microx, and there are some small cutup talking samples via a kp3.. everything else are fx loops and delay abuse (a ratshack reverb and a fedback feedback destroyer pro (to get the grainy sounds) are very prominent):

Nice mute. I used to sometimes hook up one of my guitars and chain a bunch of pedals, usually only 1 distortion, but flanger and multiple delays were definitely going on. Turn it on and start generating some noise, crank the volume so the vibrations from the amp vibrate the strings of the guitar to keep producing new sound and then set things like I want and walk off. I may have even involved my Lexicon Vortex a few times. It has some very beautiful and some outright f**k weird noises in it. I can remember sitting at my computer talking to friends telling them about the undulating sea of sound coming from one of the bedrooms heh.

Maybe when we buy a house next fall I can get back to some of those experiments. Add some fun things like my Monotrons to the FX chain or filter things thru the Minitaur. Lots of options. I love pedals. I would be perfectly happy just playing w/all the pedals while other people play, make them react to my changes and help color and shape everyone's sound.

chris carter from tg did something similar to this with a bunch of boss pedals (though it's slightly more sophisticated, he used a couple of nano-synths to kick off the loops):

Love that CC video. I wonder what a couple of those smaller synths run thru my Lexicon Vortex in stereo would sound like. I should hook up 2 Monotrons and give it a go heh.
