New DSI Mopho 4 Voice Synth Announced

I am a fan of the Evo digital oscillators and 3X delay line and would have liked to have seen these capabilities further explored, perhaps with elements of wavetable and vector synthesis along with Curtis filters.

Totally agree. The evolver broke new ground. They should have further developed that line of synths. I could only imagine how awesome more advanced polyphonic wavetables would sound through those curtis filters. Im gonna try running my fizmo through my evolver and seeing what kind of quirky sounds I can come up with.

As for as the Mopho 4, I dont particularly find it too enticing. But Im sure it will be a quality analog synth.

Good price and the interface appears sensible. Personally, I like knobs and would prefer 2 dedicated envelopes, + more knobs for eveything else. At least it looks logical compared to the original Mopho layout.

So you can't program the voices separately? No splits... That kinda sucks... I guess that's so they still have a market for the tetra... Plus maybe price?

As for price It's only 500 dollars more then a tetra but has a ton more nobs and a keyboard with velocity and after touch (YES!) and it is manufactured in a first world country. I don't think anyone, particularly Americans should complain considering unemployment levels.That's also a pretty good price for the manufacturing location too, i bet dave smith isn't making as big a profit as manufactures who pay their workers two dollars an hour in third world countries, then release digital keyboards with no aftertouch for the same price.

I love how DSI learned to not say much until a product is ready to go out the door. Saves 40 pages of blahblah on forums everywhere.

Seems they've included filter fm, which is pretty dang cool, but only having owned an evolver desktop I'm not entirely sure if this option was also available on the mopho, tetra, and mopho keyboard.

this seems like it would be a nice alternative to a Little Phatty.

my next synth is going to be the pulse 2 meethinks.

Nice! Always good to see a new synth, looks pretty powerful for it's small size.

But I'll get by without one, doesn't strike me as anything new/unique.

But everyone was saying, "We want a tetra keyboard/mopho poly" so DSI have merely listened to what alot of people were saying, which is a good thing right? There's a h**l of alot of companies that don't.

Plus imo it seems pretty good value, be a good first synth...

Anyway you can't say DSI don't release new products that are interesting, Tempest?

haha harsh but on the money. There are a *h**l* of a lot of choices for conventional analogs out there right now, dare I say it too many. Something a little more "out there" would be nice, and is overdue atm I think.

Time for a little less emulation and a little more innovation.

I hate when people just moan about an aspect of something they're probably not going to buy anyway. But that's exactly what I'm going to do and say it seems a bit mean that they've left off split / stack modes. Maybe there's a practical reason and it's not just an Intel style marketing led feature. Also why not call it the Mo4?
