Simple Minds' old Emulator II, when it was about half what they're fetching now, but I would never have had room for it. Also, perhaps, the last Voyager OS in the UK. I bought a new mixer instead. Needed it more, so not too worried. That, and a mate's Jupiter 6, but I'd only just bought a Jupiter 4 and couldn't justify both.

So actually, no. None of the above.

I missed out on a Roland HS60 for $125ish at a pawn shop. I didn't know what it was, and it sat there for weeks. I thought it was casio-type garbage, and when I finally looked it up at home and went back to buy, it was gone. That one still gets me.

Also narrowly missed out an a $150 Spectal Audio Neptune II recently. I was bummed about that one until I found a killer deal on a pair of Adam A7s.

JX-3p for $175 in a Daddy's Junky Music back around 2006

TR-707 for $150 in the same store, a year later.

Any Juno-60 before they cost more than a Bugatti Veyron (IE a few years ago)

Meatballfuton was giving away some cool gizmos last year, I missed them by like 2 minutes. :(

I have no major regrets. In my senior year, I rescued a badly abused Juno-106, and a clean SK-1 and CS01 from my high school. It took a lot of letters to the principal and effort on my part, but nothing too crazy. I got them all for basically nothing.

A year before that, I got a beat up ESQ-1 for $50. Not bad. Those are the kinds of things I knew I would really regret missing out on, so I jumped on all of them. I even found an Alpha Juno 2 once in bad shape and offered the owner some money for it, but he declined. Glad I gave it a shot.

Trent Reznor's old Q rack 2 years ago. It ended up selling for a pretty decent price, but not to me unfortunately.

I missed an Xpander for $1200 2 years ago from a guy who had just sold his Pro One for $700. I didn't get either because I was aiming at the Pro (but couldn't secure a car to come pick it up 150 miles away within 2 days), and even though the seller offered me the Xpander, I didn't know what it was then so the price was less than tempting.

My worst was a Matrix 6 with a guitar amp, for $300. I didn't want the amp, so I asked if I could just get the synth for $150: the seller said yes, but when I tried to schedule a pickup the next day he told me he had already sold it to someone else (without telling me beforehand, or offering that I paid full price)! That one was a lesson: get it now if you're first caller, and don't let sellers think about it much!
Available for sale:
-Chamber of Sounds Jupiter III (mk1) & Jupiter T (mk1)
-The Complete DX7- Howard Massey (with original enclosed sounds on soft disks)

In the end it doesn't matter what you paid, it only matters what you made.

About 5 years ago, Jan Hammer's Freeman Symphonizer went to the single bidder at $250. It was listed as broken and needed repairs, but this particular Freeman was the one he always toured with and recorded with. Had what the seller called, a custom Moog modification done by Bob Moog with photos of the five extra handmade circuit boards. This was the infamous Moog String Filter that Jan had put in there by Moog to make the Freeman sound more authentic. I had a high bid ready to place at the last minute, had to be a least $600 or more. But somehow got sidetracked and missed the bid. I might have only cost the first bidder more money, might have gotten it for a few bucks more? The one that got away. The Moog string filter alone would be worth having.

Someone offered a Yamaha CX5M on this very forum for $25. I know it's not a brilliant synth or a brilliant computer, but it's exactly the kind of silly thing I like to have in my setup. Was in Germany at the time, should have bit anyway.

A few years ago on ebay I spotted a Korg PS3200 that had just been listed in full working order for £2200 BIN. The best thing was it was located literally a 4 minute walk from my house. So I logged into my online bank account to check I had sufficient funds to withdraw for a cash on collection purchase.

By the time I had checked and gone back to ebay (after about 3 minutes), it had sold. I almost wept.

In 1993, a guy I knew offered to sell me both his Jupiter 6 AND Prophet 600 with road cases for $500. Both mint condition. I think he needed money for weed or something. Since I already had a Prophet and would have had to borrow the money, I said no. A month or 2 later another friend offered to sell me his little played Gibson Les Paul for his rent money($600). I declined. Again, I would have had to borrow the money so I said no.

Back in the early '90's I came across an SCI Pro-One for $50 at a pawn shop. I didn't have the cash on me and I didn't want to put it on the credit card (it was a mono synth with no presets - did I really need to get back into that?), so I passed on it. Granted, it was missing a couple of knobs, but it sounded ... sigh ... I really don't like thinking about it.

Ah, the early 90s - deals everywhere, but couldn't afford much earning just over minimum wage. One of the only regrets was a MKS-80/MPG-80 combo that I put in layaway at my local music shop (that I eventually landed a job at). I think it was around $700-$800 for the pair, but decided to cancel the layaway thinking I could finding a decent KEYBOARD analog poly like a Prophet 5 for less. The deals were out there, but much harder to find in the pre-internet era.
