Short synthesizer demotrack: Grp A4

Post by DocT » Thu Dec 13, 2012 1:34 pm

Unpacked one of these impressive machines yesterday. Unfortunately it can stay here only until christmas.

It took me at least half an hour to figure out how MIDI and Envelope gates need to be connected, but then I started some serious kidding:

Bunga Bunga :ugeek:

Delays and some reverb on a few tracks added after multitracking in Cubase.

It's big brother, the A8 looks like a NASA spaceship console

I see the A4 goes for 4400 Euros. That's alot of money for a monosynth. The A8 has been discontinued/sold out in 2012.
They'll be making A4's into 2013 though.

After reading this review/article
http://greatsynthesizers.com/en/test/gr ... nthesizer/

It moved several steps towards the top of my want list. But of course, being so expensive, it won't happen.
There some sound examples attached to the article aswell.

It sounds in fact great, but I think I wouldn't buy it. I've become lazy over the years. I'm tending to pass on the last bit of sound quality if there are tools that offer a bit less in these terms but are more affordable and less straining in use.
It's great fun though to play around with such a monster from time to time, but in the end that would be all I'd use it for. To make music, I'd use different tools.

Yeah, I've hit the same thing with my modular system. It's a 3VCO 2VCF 3x8 sequencer eurorack monster, but I hardly ever use it for anything but playing around with and switch it off again.

OOh...great track. Sounds like a Solvent demo (that's meant to be a compliment). She's got personality and some real bite. This is better than pretty much any youtube demo of a modular synth.

*cue rash of youtube demo postings proving me wrong*

Not that this is a bad thing. Completely legitimate. Just like others who do only collect instruments.

VesuvioAnother one:

Not exactly what you'd expect from the machine, but anyway ;)

The last thing in the world I need is a big honkin' modular synth,...and here I am all wanting one now. So very very cool, and exactly the kinds of sounds you think of when you think synth, or me at least. Thanks for sharing.
