The new fan is only a tad quieter. My repair guy said we could knock the fan to half speed and see. If the specs still match, cooling wise, that might be the trick, but I have a feeling it won't be.

Another potential issue the tech found was there's no protective case around the power supply. If it gets dusty, it could over heat and maybe be a fire hazard. Recommend all users clean the inside every five years or so? IF I still have it, I'll be doing that.

Update:

I put the LNA resitor on the new fan and I'm much happier! I had the Kronos on for about three hours last night after a jam, I didn't even remember it was still on as it made no discernible physical sound from the fan.

I'm not saying I'd reccomend this, but it worked for me.

Now, I'll see if over time I made the right mod choice.
