My first synth was a Roland Promars. Sold it and wish i still had it, only realised how special it was once id let it go. Still have my second synth, a Roland W-30. Rediscovered it recently and its getting plenty of use

My first real synth was a Yamaha CS-50.

I bought it at a pawn shop in aroun 1991 or so when absolutely nobody i knew had any use for analog synths. My bandmates wanted nothing to do with it so i just used it for solo projects for a couple of decades until anlaog became cool again in these parts.

I still have it.

I've been thinking of selling but every time i fire it up i call in love with it again.

I stil have my first synth, the MS-10 :D

It is in fantastic condition and taught me a great deal about subtractive synthesis and control voltages :)

I could never sell it, despite my set up benefiting from many 80's polysynths and more complex mono's, the MS-10 remains sonically untouched. Maybe the reason being is that I know it so well? I also use it for our live show's as it is so easy to draw up new patches and sounds consistently great.

I just really wish that I could find an affordable flight case / padded bag to take it out in. The originals are almost impossible to find and the Swan ones are priced insanely high.

I would love a Promars, they appear to be getting harder and harder to get hold of now. I think it would go really well alongside the Jupiter 4.

When I was 17 I bought my first synth, a Roland Alpha Juno 1. I later sold it, but rebought an Alpha Juno 2 to replace that hole in my soul. Now I just need to find a PG-300 to fill that other hole.

Still have my first, a Roland JX-3P. I bought it used in 1987 for $300 and I'll keep it forever. I even bought a PG-200 for it a couple years ago. The PG blew a cap recently, but the JX-3P keeps on going!

I owned a Jupiter-4 a couple of years ago and wished i still had my Promars to sit alongside it. The thing that makes the Promars special is that its a half way house between the Jupiter-4 and an SH. It has CV Gate too, so (unlike the JP4) you can sequence it without paying for a modification

E-MU Emulator Three. Twenty two years later, still very much in love with it. Sampler yes, very much a Synth when processing and the analog filters are timeless.

ha theres a lot of poly800s for first synths! that was my second, it was neat, sometimes i still wish i had it for those stacked paraphonic sounds. but the envelopes always bugged me on that. i sold it a couple years ago for a drumtracks which i then sold for my jx3p
