Re: How many of you still have your first synth?
Not me...my first was a Casio CZ5000 that I sold as soon as I could afford an SQ-80 which I kept for over 15 years, but now that's gone too.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

I do. It is an ARP Explorer 1. However, it got dropped and a circuit board got cracked. It no longer works but I did immortalize it on my first record. Here is a link. The song was recorded in 1980 and published 1981.

I wish I still had my C64 - got it in '83 as well. I had Dr. T's Tiger Sequencer for it, I think. I still have the Sony 13" TV I used as a monitor, it's hooked up to a digital converter box and it gets used by my 6 yr old occasionally.Jay200MPH wrote:I still have my first "DAW" too - a Commodore 64 that the family got new in 1983.
I still have my Amiga 500 and Music-X sequencer for it. I really liked Music-X...

No, and it was a Yamaha DX100. Never really got into the menu diving to mess with the sounds and didn't find the presets all that inspiring. I didn't buy a synth again until last year.

Re: How many of you still have your first synth?
I sort-of still have my first synth. It was a Juno 6, and then many years on, I got a Ju-60. They looked very nice together on the stand for a while, but then I ran out of room and it didn't really make sense holding onto the Ju-6. It was a little bit sad selling it, but it's "spirit" is still well and truly within the 60. I can't ever see myself without a Juno to be honest

It doesn't matter if you don't like my personality, I have several more.

Yes, I still have my Yamaha DJX MK1 (my first consumer synth and now on loan to my nephew) and a Novation A-Station purchased in April 2002.

Re: How many of you still have your first synth?
A year ago, I could have answered yes. A Moog Rogue. But about 9 months after I sold it, I picked up an MG-1, so no loss there.

Re: How many of you still have your first synth?
In terms of hardware, the first synth I paid money for was a Mopho Keyboard, pre-ordered in March 2010. It's at my side now.
I'm not very good at waiting
and was getting antsy thinking about the Mopho. A chance browse of the eBay shop of a second hand/pawn shop (coincidentally where I bought my first guitar in the early 90s) had me rushing out to buy an ARP Axxe, so that was the first synth I actually got my hands on
although I always wanted an Odyssey deep down.
I still have the Axxe, but it's in a wardrobe in the back bedroom, ousted from its stand by an Odyssey I bought several months ago. I've never sold a synth and can't imagine doing so and I've only ever sold one guitar, which was to a friend many years ago. I think I'm a hoarder

Re: How many of you still have your first synth?
I do, although I'm a bit of a mixed bag here. As we used to have a music shop, there've been situations when I had a synth at home for a while - typically to sample the whole wave-ROM. Technically *those* were the first synths I used, but not the first ones I owned myself. Over the years I've borrowed/used/sampled: Roland XP50, JV1000, JW50, JX1, Alpha Juno 2, U20, Siel EX600, Technics KN5000, KN6000, General Music WK4, a Solton keyboard, stuff like that - oh and I borrowed an Oberheim Matrix1000 from my study to do an assignment with.
My real own synths are the ones in my sig, and they're still here - at my old address that is; I moved and didn't bring them along.

No, it was a korg 707...I hated that thing.
