Well, see... you can say that. But since you didn't participate in the conversation previous to the point where you mocked the conversation, and mocking conversations is really di rigueur of nerds trying to mock nerds to futilely avoid the label of nerd (yep, Stabby, I'm thinking of you)- I just don't know.
I proudly wear my nerddom as a badge of honour. Although maybe I'm confusing it with geekdom, can we get a nerd in here to clarify the difference between the two? :geek:

It's just not possible to please everybody, we just have to accept that. We just want nothing more than to make a fun and interesting film, putting some people and stories behind these amazing instruments, and hopefully expose modular synthesizers to some new people - that's our agenda.
Well the good news is that the people who are upset about the trailers will probably be the first to buy a ticket to see it--if only so they can complain some more on the internet!

Oh, I don't know. I'll probably be up to my elbows in "digital vs. analog" at that point.

And while that clarification is going on, can I get a clarification about the difference between the now-18-different types of dubstep? Maybe by the same person? Forsyth?

diy kit synths are WAY nerdier.
Atari punk/X0x/Dronelab etc.

speaking as an IT guy/anime fan/Trekkie/musician/electronics hobbyist/person that reads books on history for fun...
I'd say nerd and geek are roughly equivalent.
Though the ascendancy of computer geeks to billionaire status changed that.
Seems like these days geek implies deep knowledge gained at the price of stunted social skills.
Nerd is more towards just "uncool".
Though I hear "unix nerd" or "linux nerd" used a lot, it's mostly a self deprecating way to claim superior hacking skills without actually wearing a cape.

Now lets throw down Star Wars vs Star Trek!

Oh I'm definitely going to order my copy of I Dream of Wires on Betamax.

To me, "nerd" is a word of honor, I take it with pride.

That's not nerd! Try guessing the alignment of every deity listed in 3rd edition DnD, in alphabetical order, as the afterparty drinking game a saturday night. That's nerd for ya!

no, you are confusing nerd with pathetic loner.
There is a heirarchy to be observed here!
(and I think you mean AD&D.)

Yeah I guess that whole debate ended after Jar Jar Binks made his debut. Still, that really was the stuff of cons.
original star wars action figures just arent worth as much after that trainwreck of a movie, even mib.

You qualify as a nerd when you think AD&D really is an improvement over D&D. Not to mention that "advanced" game systems are not the optimal choice if you want to smoke weed while playing those games. So, yeah, nerd.

Not sure if modular synths really get into that territory. While "wanna see my modular synth" might not be the best choice for a pick up line in a bar, "wanna see my $120,000 modular synth" just might work.

Pathetic may be the case, but I'm pretty sure that playing drinking games with people a saturday night classifies as social interaction, DnD or not.

Also, all forms of AD&D requires a group of people to play. You can't play alone. Unless you play on the computer.

Thus rendering that "pathetic loner" argument completely mute.
