Wobbly knobs? Take them off, add small black plastic washers underneath, put them back on. Problem solved.

On the subject of knobs, here's my tip: swap the knobs for VCO2 waveform and pitch - you don't need a big knob for a four-position switch, but having one on the tuning makes it much easier to use.

For kicks, I've been playing around with just the raw oscillator sounds on my MS-20 Mini. Hot diggity, this thing just does better fifth leads than anything I've heard this side of a Minimoog. I don't know if it's just the filter hiss or what, but somehow fifth intervals (especially with square waves) get this really gritty low-end to the sound that I can't get with a comparable patch on of any of my other synths.

I love this thing.

Been lurking quite awhile, and recently picked up the MS-20 mini. I hesitated at first since I heard all this talk about noise and poor build quality (wobbly knobs) plus I already had the MiniBrute which I really love, but I went ahead and got the MS-20 mini anyway, and for me, it is really quite fun! I've had no wobbly knobs nor any noticeable noise (now, my OP-1 on the other hand, is THE noisiest synth I've ever owned since the SidStation!)

I also had to get the Doepfer Dark Time to drive the MS-20 mini; great combination!

We live in a great time for synths; with analog reissues, great digital and soft synths available, and the resurgence of Modular synths (my next endeavor) it's just really nice to be a musician during these times!

Looks like a nice combo. Any Souncloud tracks using that threesome?

That is a really cool set up you have there, and I like the your thoughts about the instruments we have access to.

Thanks guys! I recently posted a couple of tests with this setup starting with this:

And the beginning of this track:

Thanks! I really appreciate that.

Here is a quick test video I did of the setup today; I'm still learning the Dark Time and it's quirks with the MS-20.

I love this thing more every time I turn it on. It's been steadily making its way into more and more tunes.
Lately I've been creating patches and sampling a note into maschine. Tune chromatically, add some delay and reverb, and you have a quasi-MS-20 poly synth.

I noticed something rather odd on my MS-20. When I try to do a trill, I can go up but not down. So I can hold down say, an E, and alternate between E and F with E being held the entire time. But if I start on E and try to go down to D, it doesn't seem to work. It will just stay on the note I started with.

Is this some weird defect on my unit or are they all like that?

The MS-20 has a high-note priority keyboard. That is normal behavior.

MS-20 is high note priority. Some synths are high note, some synths are low note, some synths are last note, some synths let you change the setting.
