New Tom Oberheim OB-X rumors?

Post by OB-XaMinimoog » Tue Apr 02, 2013 4:53 am

I came across some other sites talking about some new machines coming from Oberheim, including the TVS and Son of 4 Voice, but it also mentioned a "Project X" which is rumored to be a new version of the OB-X.

http://www.gearslutz.com/board/electron ... -ob-x.html

http://m.matrixsynth.com/2011/05/new-ke ... im-in.html

But this was almost two years ago and I haven't been able to find any more recent info. I'm very curious to whats going on with it, if its even gonna happen at this point if it was at all!

I hope so. A new OB-X would be absolutely awesome! :D :geek:

Sure love me some unsubstantiated rumours from two years ago.

What's tom's production capacity like anyway?

I love those April 1 news.

Honestly, why would he announce an OB-X when the TVS and SOFV are still vapourware? Tom is slowly but steadily heading for his 80th birthday after all...

Thats what I was thinking. People were saying they emailed Tom and he did confirm an new Polyphonic machine along the lines of a new OB-X, but like you and I both said this was almost two years ago, and I just wanted to see whats kind of happened with it, if anyone even knows other than Tom himself.

I actually forgot it was April fools day lol.

I have doubts about this, but I thought I'd just post it here and see what the word is with it, if any.

I wouldn't even begin to believe this until the TVS is released... I'm having doubts he'll even come through with the SO4V at this point :(
Do you even post on vse bro?

Bah, a fully analog new OB-X would cost way more than I could afford anyway.

my thoughts exactly. I'm trying to save up for an SEM-Pro and the OBx was basically 4(or 6 or 8) of those on smaller daughtercards.
So I'm guessing $5k for the 4 voice, $7k for the 8.

I guess Van Halen, Japan, Jarre, Killing Joke, Missing Persons, Prince, Queen, Rush, Tangerine Dream and
Ultravox are what's wrong with me.

The new OB-X only needs two preset buttons. One named TOM SAWYER BASS, the other named JUMP.
And everyone will be happy. No other controls needed.
