Nice work as well Aaron2 ! Here is another one with the Volca Bass being run through my Sherman Filterbank 2 to give an unworldly sound to the bass...

jcn7, yes, it does indeed have a very other-worldly sound. In fact, the track would be perfectly suited to a sci-fi movie!

I did some more tweaking on my earlier track. Here's the (slightly) new and improved version:

I also love my Beats. It's kind of wimpy volume-wise, but I have ways of beefing it back up. It's got a lot of characteristics of the 606/808, even though it doesn't really sound like either. I don't make techno/EDM, so this drum machine gives me a lot of new sounds for my music. I can also get it to play a bit melodically, due to the tuning aspects of the BD/SD/LT/HT. And it does odd-time signatures! And it stores patterns!

Holy cow. Best drum machine I've ever owned - that could be my own issue though :)

I only use the analog portion of the drum machine. I do wish the rest of it was analog as well. I could use a rimshot or a clave or a variety of other sounds.

Anyway, good drum machine. Simple, sounds good to me for what I do.

So far I have to admit that I like the beats first, keys second, and the bass third. The only one that was disappointing in any way was the Bass. It's a little generic. Still usable though. I'm glad I purchased them.

Do you find that the output is a little low on the Beats when you run it through your DAW? I did. It doesn't have the same punch as the drum kits contained in Ableton. That was my experience, anyway.

The kits in Ableton have processing built into the racks though.

The kits in Ableton can have processing built into the racks.

Low output is never a problem, just turn it up.

Besides, volume != "punch"
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Too bad you can't back them up...with so few pattern slots, you're going to need pencil and paper.

Probably because the PCM parts are just samples, which you can obtain elsewhere.

Still waiting on the beats , but strangly enough I'm loving the bass more than the keys .... Didn't see that coming at all . Btw anyone else have any wonky osc beating when playing d and f on the keys in poly mode with no detune ? Sounds kinda off on mine ....
Some wish to leave their mark ... I want to leave a scar .

Pretty much every preset kit I have ever loaded in Ableton has at least a couple sends built into the rack for stuff like reverbs, panning for each sound, compression, etc, already setup and configured. Out of the default kits in Ableton, how many are just dry samples/sounds with all sounds panned center? That was what I meant with my original comment. He was comparing un-processed dry audio coming in from an external device to a preset rack with a bunch of processing already done/assigned for each individual sound as part of the rack.

I would love a re-release of the Polysix as there's been so many that are damaged/destroyed because of age, or the more common battery leakage issue and the ones that are left are climbing up in price as far as I can tell. It's the Juno's evil twin!

I wouldn't mind seeing a four or six voice based on the MS-20 engine. I think Korg could pull it off for under $1500.

I dunno, I'd rather see something different than just "more MS-20," myself - at least for a start. Polysix or Mono/Poly, or somesuch. Heck, I'd love to see a DW-8000 re-release, though that's hybrid rather than strictly analogue...

Suffice to say, I look forward to seeing where they go with this :)

Just don't like using samples - I'm just a picky guy. :)
