please do go on thinking that...

hey tool, are you still a teenager or what?

3000 posts you have - and yet seems to me that you have nothing to contribute regarding vintage synths.

besides the obvious trolling, what are you doing here?

Not to be one of those vintagesynth semantic a**holes but i think its DCO (?) from their description ( I agree with everything else you said, thing is very very full featured...)

"”Both oscillators of each voice are analog, with all their elaborate waveshaping completely analog, and with their pitches controlled digitally.”"
Could be, I only thought VCO because I'd read that earlier when it was just announced. The oscs do sound a lot more lively than DSI oscs though.
I am pretty sure they are DCOs, they do change shape over the frequency range which could contribute to some of the liveliness.

They are DCO's, but thats still technically analog ;)

There's an option to turn on oscilator drift, which also adds depth to the sounds of patches.

I can't sing it's praises as I have yet to buy one. YET. Heh.

When I was younger and poorer I used to be hard line against elektron because the price was beyond my means, I'd reason that I could do more for less with a laptop - now that I own a machinedrum I couldn't be more in love with the workflow of elektrons sequencers.

Already mentioned, but played with again today and...the effects (and ability to param lock anything about them) really really make this thing shine. Sort of like the Virus, turn off all the effects and sounds a little vanilla, lay them back on and ride the sonic abyss.

Did have a lot of trouble upgrading OS (using C6, had to tweak settings and re-try many times to get it to take...)

My issue with it ... it's so much fun to just tweak 1 bar nonsense with effects having trouble writing something proper on it :geek: which is not a bad problem to have

And yeah Stab, I agree the oscs sound a lot less locked down than the DSI oscs ( I leave the osc. drift option on all the time probably helps too)

I am very interested in the A4. I was previously saving up for a Tempest. But by the looks of things I may end up getting the A4 instead. It's cheaper and seems to be more forward thinking than the Tempest, while also accommodating those of us that have a lot of vintage analog which the Tempest does not.
I've played with a couple groups that use Elektron gear and it is hard to deny that their stuff sounds great and is apparently a blast to use.
