What should each company make next?
Imagine you're hired as the lead project manager for any synth company- ill list some ideas below. What would you make that would make sense as the next step for the company?
Korg: a fully analog drum machine. Individual outs. All sounds editable, multiple patterns, etc.
Alesis: the andromeda a5. 5 or 6 voices, uses the tech of the original. 49 key keyboard. Simplified interface.
Yamaha: a DX7 rerelease with overhauled interface with plenty of knobs.
DSI and Moog: stumped.

You'd probably get fired again for only wanting to remake old stuff and not "looking forward into the digital age of internets and filesharing"

Re: What should each company make next?
Korg: A full-blown analog polysynth keyboard under 800 USD
Roland: A proper VA followup to the JP-8000 if they can't be bothered to do an analog
Yamaha: a real synth with no workstation features, whether it be analog, digital, virtual analog, or whatever
Arturia: A Maxibrute 2- or 4-voice analog polysynth (seriously, the monosynth market is becoming saturated, a duo could shake things up)
Alesis: Something simple to get them back into the synth game, like an Ion/Micron 2
Moog: Polymoog Voyager- a new version of that with updated features a la the Minimoog Voyager
DSi: Stay the course-they're doing good so far...

Re: What should each company make next?
Roland should stop building music instruments.
Moog should make a polysynth from SubPhatty circuits!
Korg should re-issue separate modules from the famous and much too rare MS50 ('ve got one, but...)!
And a new cheap PS 3300!!!!!
Yamaha should re-issue the TY trial series...

Anything with knobs will keep me happy. Lots of big black hard knobs. Anyone? Yes? No?

Re: What should each company make next?
Moog could make a killing with a paraphonic mono/poly switchable and combinable analog keyboard synth. There's a clear opening there for one of the higher-end analog or snob-modular companies, or whoever wants to take it. So could Korg, for that matter.. but with their cheapo volca technology they could do a poly cheaply as well.
The monosynth market is saturated, but other markets haven't even begun to be tapped yet ..

FM9
And I'd like a virtual Korg 01/W and a virtual JV-1080/2080/XV3080/5080 with custom samples in a custom samplebank (so, no loading for a new souund, just picking one from a list). Both fully multi-timbral with multi-timbral effects.

Re: What should each company make next?
Akai - Miniak with expanded interface (mpk49 sized)
Alesis - Bugless Ion that can be used as a controller.
Kurzweil - PC3k without stupid wood sides and not made in china.
Nord - Norddrum3 with multiple outputs.
Korg - go out of business.
Access - sexier looking Virus ti3(more like KC or original TI) or all clear or... bio-degradable
Yamaha - real synth
Roland - ???

Re: What should each company make next?
Roland: MSV-303, a new combination groovebox and music stand that also does video editing. (and plays MP3s too)
Korg: anything analog, I will buy it
DSI: Dave Smith already made the Prophet and Pro One, what else do you need?
Yamaha: a new motorcycle
Moog: something I can afford

Roland: JX-20... Two Jx-10s in one keyboard, with knobs and effects. Oh, and corrected MIDI SYSEX.
DSI: Prophet-48. Built-in software to help take out that second, third and fourth mortgage on your home.
Yamaha: New version of the SY-99. Steal the V.A.S.T. processing from Kurzweil, all the V-Synth GT morphing from Roland and load that sucker UP!

Re: What should each company make next?
I would make something absolutely new. I'm tired of the same conception from synth to synths, I can't get anything new with this s**t, the whole industry just stuck 20 years ago. We need a breakthrough in synthbuilding.
