Hmmm...a Mopho stuffed into an X4 case with P12 knobs? Not what I was expecting, but I wasn't expecting anything at all

Good marketing move in reaction to all the 25 key synths flooding the market, go the other way and add an octave. Could there be a comeback of the good old widdly widdly, this time skip the capes and stabbing the instruments, pls :?

Soooo, what's the difference between this and a Mopho KB?

Hmm, interesting. It appears to have an Audio In, missing on the x4. Aside from 3 less voices, I can't find what else is different.

I like it, personally. I was always a little put off by the yellow of the other Mophos. Any guess on what the street price will be? I'm thinking $899-ish. Any higher and people will just opt for the X4.

Not sure where it will sit, pricing wise. The mopho keys is still too expensive in my opinion. This will have to be more than that.

so it has more keys, and it's a different color?

..that's all?

I expected something like a rack version of...something...or a smaller Tempest.....type thingy....

I don't even mind the product, it's that the timing is a little weird to be this long after the fact...
It makes sense to offer different sizes across a broad range at launch...
Like who was on the fence about the MophoK, but this is the version to push them over the hump?

Well, there's me, for one. As I said above, I was always put off by the color of the Mopho. It made it seem less "pro" to me. Plus, there wasn't much that the Mopho could do that others couldn't. Here, you get another octave's worth of keys in a better looking package. It (like the MophoK) still seems a little too expensive, though.

I'll second that. 25-32 keys just ain't enough. (Granted, I'm half-thinking about getting a Minibrute anyway, but still.) I can get by with the 37 on my MS-20 Mini, but it's good to see the range broadening a bit; 44's where you really start to hit a comfortable range.

Still out of my price range, though. Wish someone other than Korg and Arturia would join the affordable-analog party...

And bonus points for rockin' the wood-panels look. Does DSI use real board, or just wood-grain applique on plywood/particle board?

Well the larger aspect is that you're only tempted.
You don't release a product to merely tempt potential customers.
And I don't say that to be snarky or state the obvious.

"Cool products" - I dunno, I see them as bottom-line sinkers, where everyone goes "oh cool, they made a..."
But no one buys one.
BUT, if looks were an issue- maybe there's more to this whole Black and Silver keyboard thing then we imagine.
Maybe they have TONS of requests for exactly this product...maybe the players on the fence were nagging...

Manufacturers really aren't interested in why people won't buy it. Plenty of people have said "I wish these monosynths had more keys" and DSI provided. Those people might very well buy it. If you don't want it, don't buy it. It's really that simple. But let's go ahead and question the product dev and marketing teams of DSI as well as the buying public for another 37 pages ad infinitum.

Well, time will tell, and all that. But seriously, if they were more in the MS-20 Mini/Minibrute price range, I'd buy one without hesitation. I can only imagine that people like me but without the budget constraints would be all over this.
