I wonder what might have happened to his IIX.

I wonder what happened to his bank account. Why else would he be selling off gear?

Speaking of which. Has anyone used Boris' app called Yellofier? It's actually a s**t ton of fun. Lets you record a clip with the microphone, it then finds the hits, and quantizes them to a drum pattern. Lots of bizarre fx too.

I'd definitely hold the seller to the shipping quote of $60 to the UK from AUS!

A while ago, Boris was interviewed for some magazine in Germany. He pointed out he was fed up with hardware and the need to keep a lot of instruments going all the time (same thing with expensive studio gear). His Fairlight was broken around that time, and he was a bit frustrated because there still was a lot of Yello stuff on it which had not yet been transferred to the Mac (or whatever he uses).

The only hardware synth he wants to keep is his ARP Odyssey because this was his first synthesiser.

I can relate to that. It's different for these oldschool musicians who owned all the gear we GAS about now, and learned firsthand how awkward it was to use it all together. Whereas we'll scream out in agony when an artist sells off his entire vintage synth warehouse and wonder why.

To them, realizing that they can downsize a small warehouse of synths to a single laptop must be a godsend.

Ad says music keyboard is not included. But there's a music keyboard in the second picture which also shows two CMI III systems. So I guess he is only selling one of is CMI IIIs? Would be cool to get the library...

I think the seller, Peter Wielk / Horiprod, is showing his stock of spare Fairlight parts in the photo with the music keyboard, multiple monitors, and 2 CMI mainframes...

He used to for at the factory and is the go-to guy for Fairlight repairs and parts. Peter is also in the process of restoring Ian Stanley's (of Tears for Fears) Fairlight as well.

Both the Stanley and Yello systems would be cool to have, they both must have amazing libraries with them.

I guess he's just too busy with his Argentinian restaurant here in Zurich :D

Why shipping from AUS though?

I used to think it was Dieter Meier who was running the restaurant in Zürich (where you can buy wine he grows in Argentina).

I had a telephone conversation with Dieter Meier once. Probably one of the most intelligent and witty people I´ve ever talked to.

Probably because this is where the really knowledgable Fairlight people are based.
