Modern Analog Song Competition

Post by Jabberwalky » Wed Nov 06, 2013 1:52 am

I'd like to propose some discussion for a new competition. One song can be submitted, and it must be made entirely (drums too) with one of the new modern analogs that's been released recently. The list certainly could be larger, but the big hitters would be:

Minibrute/Microbrute
Bass Station 2
Volcas
Ms20mini
Subphatty/Little/Slim etc. (pretty much any Moog :))
MFB

The competition will be over and voted on by December 1st. Please vote in the poll if you are interested in participating and we will figure out the logistics of uploading, and voting.

Cheers!

In!

Oh, and question: would it be acceptable to use more than one qualifying instrument, or should we stick to just one? (I only have one at the moment anyway, I'm just curious.)

This might just be the proper stimulation for me to get off my a*s and try to record something - we'll see how that goes...

Just a single modern analog or are multiples allowed? What about effects and processing?

I think we should keep it to one synth, which might bring out more creativity, and also show the versatility of your synth. The volcas could be a combination due to the limited nature of them. We should also keep these dry, because FX just tend to color the sound. This will be a challenge, but I think it will be a lot of fun too!

So, just to be clear:
  • One synth (Volcas excepted)
  • No effects
  • Deadline is the 1st of December
Sounds doable to me. Now somebody just needs to rustle up some prizes ;)

Multitracking allows an array of possibilities.

How about the analogue four? I don't own any of the others. And as it's a deep machine with more possibilities than the others I could limit myself to no multitracking and just recording what happens straight out of the box?

If so, i'm in.

You could always cheat with virtual.. and then just sit and relax and wait for someone to unravel your diabolic fraud - or not!
