Studiologic Sledge - Hidden Parameters

Postby Broadwave » Tue Dec 10, 2013 1:02 pm

So many people keep comparing the Blofeld to the Sledge that, out of curiosity, I loaded up a Blofeld CC editor using Reaktor to see if anything would happen on the Sledge…

So far, I've found a couple of things of interest :)

You can access the extra filter modes:

CC No. 68

Notch 24dB (Data 7)
Notch 12dB (Data 8)
Comb+ (Data 9)
Comb- (Data 10)
PPG VCF (Data 11)

You can also put the Sledge into Unison Mode:

CC No. 99

Poly Mode - No Unison - as on front panel (Data 0)
Mono Mode - No Unison - as on front panel (Data 2)
Poly Unison - Uses 2 Voices (Data 16)
Poly Unison - Uses 3 Voices (Data 32)
Poly Unison - Uses 4 Voices (Data 48)
Poly Unison - Uses 5 Voices (Data 60)
Mono Full Unison (Data 127)

Unfortunately there is no Unison Detune… But you can set LFO 1, 2 or the Mod Wheel to a slow Sine or Triangle and add a touch of depth to detune.

That's all I've come across at the moment, but I'm looking into the SYSEX side of things…

Hi -

I know this is an old post, but I was testing out parameters from the Blofeld manual, and found another one:

CC# 62
Noise Colour (0-127)

I was hoping to access LFO sync on #17 / #21 but they didn't work. (It did something, but nothing desirable...)

well if it doesn't sync to midi than it IS a genuine Blofeld!

Germans & Italians come together to build a synth; what could possibly go wrong?

No, the more I play the Sledge the more I realize how brilliant and underappreciated it is. Sure it's not as flexible and fully featured as a blofeld, but having all of it's controls exposed right on the front panel makes me far more likely to come up with interesting sounds.

Anyway I was hoping to sync the LFOs to each other, not MIDI. It sounds odd when the LFOs are all out of phase at low speeds.

A quick update... Studiologic are releasing V.2 firmware "Sometime soon".

Hopefully it will sort out some of the bugs, but... Studiologic are adding the Blofeld's SL License, and as far as I'm aware, It's a free update! ;)

Vid here, but in Italian only, I'm afraid.

will they ever come out with a honeydew or watermelon version? Not a fan of the cantaloupe.

You don't need the cc out of midox either. The Blofeld will send these out (keyboard version only)
So, when you select the comb filter for example, it will select it on the Sledge, or if you select the PPG filter
on the Blokeys, so goes the Sledge.
YMMV.

If you cross reference the cc99 on a Blofeld you see it is FilterEnvSustain2.
As this is a =127 data entry with the encoder, you can enter in the above number
with your Waldorf Blofeld keyboard via MIDI OUT to MIDI IN on the Sledge.

I find Data@16 (unison2) to yield some interesting phasing when a slow LFO is
applied to pitch with a slow speed and a+3 amount.
