2 of my favorite toys. Would have to pick the VSynth if it had to be just one. They do/can go to similar places but push you into different places by their nature.

I can't believe the Z1 can be had for so little money. Oscillators, LFOs, envelopes and other modulation sources galore + a great arpeggiator + very good keyboard and control surface (wheels, XY ribbon controller, dedicated knobs + assignable knobs) - $400?? What??

Out of all the V-Synths, pound for pound, penny for penny, which is the best incarnation?
The Keyboard or the added features (and cost) of the XT?

You know, a little beyond the 'if you want another keyboard....'
....
Mostly, I'm thinking it's about the realistic use of the timetrip thingie....section...I keep hearing about 'unheard of timbres', but then every video is an organ or normal lead-type sound.

Someone, somewhere is comparing it to a JD800....
What's the real skinny on the V-synth......

And what version of it can you find for $700?

@Griffin: I have the first version and have very little experience with the other two. After reading other reviews, however, it seems a lot of people think the GT didn't quite live up to its promises. The GT has a few less controllers, which it seems many think was a turn in the wrong direction.

The XT's big plus is the inclusion of the two expansion cards.
For me, though, the exclusion of the d-beams makes me choose the keyboard version instead.

Personally, I think the V-Synth is the best synth ever, it's the one I'd never part with.

Yep, Vsynth is the best synth eva, agreed. But you can't have just one!

Yes I am having a lot of fun with mine. Had it for a week now. This thing is totally bitchin lol. You can really tweak the sound between the d beam and pad control. So logical to use too. I haven't even cracked the manual and had no problems doing what I want.

It's made really well too everything feels top quality

I'd like to hear some otherworldly sounds...anyone got some soundcloud or youtube or whatever links?

I keep hearing Access Virus-like stuff.

Yes! Most user friendly synth ever made. In fact, I can't remember ever looking in the manual at all.

@griffin: I see your point. I just did a quick scan on youtube, and it's quite shocking how much time people spend demoing the va sounds. The va is a great, great inclusion, but the real strength is the vari phrase processor. If you know someone with a V-Synth, I suggest you spend some time with the vari phrase features. Take an existing patch and load in a couple of your own samples. Do this on a few different patches using the same samples, and you should get a good idea about its sound sculpting capabilities
