With that much flexibility though I don't see why you would need to use the analog oscillators since you can still have basic waveforms such as saws and squares.
Cuz, like, analog and stuff.

I meant for the purpose of the contest, not in general.

Quick question, for the purposes of the comp is using a modular system and only using digital oscs through analogue filters acceptable? Seems to be within the letter of the rules but do people think it's outside the spirit of the comp?

I think modular was allowed a few pages back if you stick to digi oscs + analog filters...

Yes, Stab. That would be just fine. I want to include as many as possible while still staying within the rules I've set. Please submit something if you have the time to do it!

Wound up scrapping the plan to reuse an old piece (it just wasn't coming together,) but stumbled onto something I really like today. Oy, ten days to pull it together...

I may flex on the deadline a little. I like to stick to things, but if pushing the date out a week or so gets more submissions in, that's better. Besides, I started my song in Pro Tools but then I transferred everything over to Reaper and I'm having to learn a brand new DAW so that's put me back by a week.

Has nobody submitted anything? Really?

Sheez, if we don't extend the deadline I might win by default...

Sorry for the lack of correspondence. I've had a bunch of crazy stuff going on. Anyway, my song is nearly finished. At least as finished as it's going to be. I just need to finish the final mixdown. Who else out there is working on anything? Anyone else? Otherwise, it's just going to be the three of us. Sorry my contest is so lame :P

I've sent PMs to everyone needing login info. Here is the link to the soundcloud page for people to listen to as the submissions roll in over the next couple of days.

https://soundcloud.com/vse-winter-2014-contest

Looking forward to hearing what everyone does! Let's do the anonymous thing that we did last time when putting up submissions. After every track is in, I'll start a new thread with links in my first post to each soundcloud song and open up a poll for voting.

So far, there is only 1 track posted but whoever did it, nice work! Great sounds, well composed!

The way I'm looking at it, if Stab and Guya both submit something, that will only make 5 tops including myself. If someone else out there has a hybrid synth, speak now or forever hold your peace.

Seriously though, If some more people out there have the synths and a week or so to put something together, I'd be willing to push the date a little further out.
