I really can't see this been a success at all. If it had a large chunk off the price then it might sell a few but at that price I just can't see it doing any good.

Checked out the Nord website...A1 has AD/ASR EGs rather than ADSR, WTF??? Compared to the 2X you lose the filter EG (must use the mod EG) and one of the LFOs. Strange choice of features!

A1 price is about $250 more than current 2x prices, $500 less than 4.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

You could probably pick up a 2X for just over half the price.

Yeah of course. I know I'd rather go for the used 2X. It just seems like backwards step for Nord, but that's only my opinion.

So it's basically a cut-down NL2x at twice the price, but with some of the NL4 filters and VA tech added..oh well. Good luck, you crazy swedes.

I think the world has seen enough "awesome moog ladder filter clones" to last 10 lifetimes.

I kind of wish they'd rerelease the NL3. That synth just made me feel good every time I played on it in a store.
It was easy to program too, and the morph feature was awesome.

Damnit, why didn't they just whip out a Wave 2 with their new modeling jazz. I mean the first wave is almost worth it just for the sample library stuff. I just haven't dug Nord's VA stuff thus far.

Also, note its using 32-bit floating point processing- did they switch to CPUs instead of DSPs? inquiring minds want to know....

It was a far-fetched hope, but I was really sitting on my bollocks for a Modular G3. Wasn't too impressed with the Wave, and the Lead 1 and 2 ... I don't know... just didn't make me very happy. I still have the Lead 3 however, and find that it's quite different sounding and fun to program.

I suppose after many other vendors threw synths out that were in the lower price range, Clavia felt compelled to capitalize on that somewhat.

Talking of Waves... what if the new waldorf thing is a new Microwave XT? The orange colour? the elaborate circular graphics?

Any back on topic: Nord = Bored.

Looks interesting.

Alas, I don't think we have the equivalent of the NAMM in England, which would be an excellent place to check out all the latest offerings.

Interesting opening comment on the Nord site "with a simplified yet hugely powerful front panel interface".

Would be interesting to see "simplified" in what way.

Kind regards,

Phil
