After having it a week now, and getting it to a experimental stoner rock jam, wow!
I get to try it as a bass synth in my disco punk band tomorrow.

I couldn't be happier with the initial sounds I'm getting:)

Korg Arp Odyssey

Post by Platner » Sun Jun 14, 2015 3:15 pm

I'm considering getting one of these. Does anyone know what country it is made in?

Thanks

Yes that's a rather odd question to be asking. :?

Not how does it sound, or how are the mini keys?

Some people are really snobby (I suppose a few are just curious) about where products are manufactured. It seems most prevalent among guitarists though.

^ maybe these "snobby" people don't want to support horrible work conditions buy buying these products? (not saying that every factory in china is a sweatshop, but there are strong tendencies...)

Good luck living in the real work with those kind of ideologies, one could counter that argument and say that buying these products keeps them in jobs they may otherwise not have ;)

I would also think some parts are made in various countries and then its assembled in one (not totally of Chinese origin). That said, I don't know where it ships from.
Muhahahahahahahahaha!

Exactly. I'm glad there are people who think this way and look at the larger picture instead of just considering what they personally want.

Not to mention quality control issues...

You do know that Moog uses parts made in China, don't you, Sweepy? :)

Yes, and 1) there have been extensive discussions about this. 2) My Voyager has the Fatar keyboard. 3) As Soul_Processor pointed out, the issue is a complex one.

Just buy stuff that was made when Communist China was our sworn enemy, not our trading partner.

That's when all the best synths were made, anyway.

It matters because I recently bought a guitar stand that was made in China and I had some concerns about build quality and I wasn't able to get in touch with the company in the US selling it. Before I purchase something in this kind of price range I like to determine how easy it is to get it fixed if it should break.

Does Korg stand behind this product?
