Rather too expensive for what you get I think.. €5K and only 1 Envelope generator??!

I paid a little over half that for my Vostok DL with 2 loopable envelopes, Step Sequencer and a much more powerful/flexible dual filter

It looks very nicely made but with no demos it's a bit too much of an ask to expect someone to lay out this much cash on an unknown and unseen monosynth thing..

A Synthi has pedigree and history.. I fear this Hornet may end up extinct

Derek is a nice guy and I would guess he would be using all his Synthi knowledge to get this thing in tip top shape.

The cost of a new Synthi was quite a lot too, if you made it to the top of the waiting list a few years back.

Edit: looks like it just uses his boards - so not sure how much input he would have had.

That is absolutely stunning and almost a dream synth for me but yeah, I would not consider that price for a second. I'm pretty content with making music with weird ems style synths that I find in school cupboards and random garage sales. It's a reoccurring dream I have.

5k€ and not a single demo of how it sounds?

Must be vaporware.

Well it's not the worst I've seen, the Schmidt synthesizer that was at NAMM retails for $20,000. And it has DCO's.
And it does have a couple of video demos recorded at the show by sonicstate.

Looks amazing, but for that bank, I'm going for a Music Easel that I promised myself I'd buy if they ever re-released 'em, and of course now that they have, I still haven't pull the trigger :( etc

[quote="Chevytraveller"I paid a little over half that for my Vostok DL[/quote]

New Vostok prices in the USA at least have doubled in the last year. I assume you got yours a while ago.

$5,102.00 at Analogue Haven as of 3/31/14.

Didn't the VCS3 only have a single EG?

that Vostok is the 'Deluxe Matrixsynth' version, with spring reverb, a sequencer, an extra LFO, and a bunch of stuff the VCS3 never had like MIDI, semi-modularity, another filter etc

Ouch!.. that hop across the pond certainly adds a sting.. you gotta expect even more of a sting from the Hornet ;)
