You have number 31 of 60! Ken made two batches of 30 of the black M5. You have the first of the second batch. I have number 36 or the sixth of the 2nd batch.

Yeah, it was pretty neat finding that little easter egg buried inside.

Odd that you'd say that. I don't find the M5 at all 'Moogy', having had a Minimoog, Multimoog, and Moyager sitting right next to it... not to mention the fact that it's got two different filter modules, only one of which is a 24db/oct lowpass. Maybe you're thinking of the M3X?

Dude has probably never owned any of them..it's funny how ppl who never owned or played a synth will say "it sounds like a moog, definately".

That lowpass filter is based on a moog source

First of all, people can hear these intruments on youtube and other sites so a comparison without ownership is valid.

My M5 doesn't have the same kind of sound as my Moog Voyager but having seen and heard a bunch of modulars and analogues on youtube, I can suggest with some confidence that the M5 sounds a bit like a Moog Modular but obviously, the M5 has its own sound characteristics which is its own identity.

I have decided to keep the M5 because 1. it's an interesting piece 2. it's huge and I'm lazy 3. it's mega rare 4. I'm going to tame this beast one way or another, but in my own time.

The Kronos 73 is being listed locally.

EDIT: Is your M5 silikon a grey face M5? I couldn't tell from the photo.

Ken wrote me about my M5 and by default, relates to yours: "there was a modification to the PCBs in the second run- this regards the sliders- on the original- some of them were put on upside down on the PCB layout- so a minor mod had to be done on # 0~30, this was corrected on # 30~60….!"
