New Moog Synth- Werkstatt

A special edition just for moog fest? A kit synth? A cheap preassembled analog?

Personally I'd love it if this was a kit.

in before people who hope it's a moog drum machine!
This looks like a psychotropic reaction. No wonder it's so popular...

Although I guess considering the names of the parameters available for editing it really does clearly appear not to be a drum machine. Although it has that box-like design...

Well read the article. Workstatt means workshop. And Moog is inviting people to attend a synth building workshop to learn about synthesizers. They will there build this thing, and be able to bring it home. it's probably the most basic, pointless monosynth to anyone who has a Moog or ever wanted one, and therefore usually has half a dozen other synths already, including 1 VCO monos like this.

I was thinking that if this was released by ANYONE ELSE we'd be going crazy bashing ...well, everything about it.
The knobs, the look, the features etc....

But because it's by Moog, it's a "cool thing".
Found on Analogue Haven = terrible
Released by Moog = :D

Tell me to buy it and my eye-brow raises, but tell me I get to build it and I get to take it home, I'm excited.
The article being ambiguous to its origins is my only problem...or NOT saying exactly what it is and leaving me/us to imagine its Moogs' next release is thumbs down.

I dunno, maybe it's not the article, but how it debuted here on VSE.

I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

But people went crazy over the volcas?

With regard to assembly, as per the picture I posted earlier, the electronics are all surface mount. That ain't kit building friendly.

With three hours, I'm guessing it's more down the line of New MS-20 korg "assemble".

The thing is a teaser photograph, but its from an instagram account which seems likely to be the genuine Moogfest one.

It seems strange that you would go to that much effort designing the thing, getting circuit boards, cases etc made up if you are only going have this thing as a promotional product at a festival?

I dunno. Maybe KORG can float between gizmos, gadgets and giants.
Moog, not so much. But maybe price-point, if there is one, will settle where this news belongs.

It's still the most dumbed down, boring 1VCO Monosynth, just with a Moog name on it. And it probably won't be sold in outlets.
I looks so basic it probably took no longer than a few hours to design by an experienced Moog engineer.

Sort of like that Gakken kit-synth that sold with a japanese keyboard magazine some years ago.

To me it looks like the things the Moog Foundation is doing, educating "the masses" about synthesis and synthesizers.
But it seems a bit like preaching to the wrong crowd at a hardcore music convention. Where everyone really just wants the next big Moog Megapoly to be released.

Well at least you can send the VCO output from the patch bay.

My Microbrute can't do that.

Good for modular.

While they don't look like minijacks, I'm sure it would be pretty easy to modify/build custom cables.

Perhaps it is aimed at the same demographic as the littlebits? Maybe it will have a proper production run and not just be for this moogfest?
