Can someone identify this synth/organ?

Post by gagnakureki » Mon May 05, 2014 3:29 pm

Hi,
I am trying to identify this organ here. http://bayimg.com/FaoCdAaFa

Does anyone have any idea what this is? I only have this picture at hand at the moment, which makes it very difficult as I can' really see the name written on the side there. Solina? Or am I being blind?

Welcome to the board!
I can't read the name either, but I found a picture of a Solina. The design of the case and the stop tabs is roughly the same. Not as many knobs(?) on the lower left. Yours may be a newer model. Image

It's a Dutch Eminent for sure....

The styling is very similar indeed to my Eminent 310U:

But it doesn't have those flip paddles like the Eminent. I'd say a Solina string ensemble too.

googling the "Solina string ensemble" gives me very different keyboards. do you know of any good sites that enlist the solina keyboards?

The picture i posted from google had no other info. I found another picture of (what looks to be) the same organ for sale with a listed price of "R1,500". I believe this was in South Africa.

Eminent and Solina have a very tight connection. I'm not sure of the relationship details, but my Eminent has both "Eminent" and "Solina" on the nameplate.

Eminent is the manufacturer. I believe Solina is the string ensemble technology used in some of their organs and stand-alone string ensemble keyboards.

You might find more luck on the combo organs forum ?
Or, if time is not an issue, try browsing through http://www.combo-organ.com/

It´s an early Solina, late 1960s, early 1970s. Over 30 years ago, I used to have a Solina T which looked similar.

Not really worth the bother. It´s an organ, nothing fancy, not even particularly good-sounding. And a heavy bugger at that.

ZAR 1500 = approx $142 US

If it has the 'string ensemble' sound on the lower manual, it might be worth chopping up into a portable one keyboard unit.

I believe it's an Solina model G or GL* built by Eminent in Bodegraven Holland The other one posted by Rhino appears to be a Swizz made
Solina model C (circa 1968/69). As far as I know Eminent in Holland took over the production of the Solina organs around 1970, earlier
models were made in Switzerland by the Solina AG company.

These models do NOT have a built-in string ensemble.

*) The 'GL' featured a built-in Leslie.
