DSI PRO 2

Post by Jabberwalky » Thu Jun 12, 2014 1:27 am

This was posted at Gearslutz

Dave Smith doing the introduction to his new synth.

Looks like a Pro-One kinda thing to me! Shiny top knobs, and possibly a joystick? Let the games begin!

Could it be Drum related? Just guessing.

DSI is going to beat Korg to the market with an ARP Odyssey reissue.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Damn. Just bought a Pro One. Regardless, after jamming on the Mopho4 for several hours I'm glad I didn't listen to electron nuts and stuck with DSI.

This will be exciting.

If it's a mono Prophet 12, I might be tempted... If not, I can't imagine Dave getting into the analog mono-synth market again. Seems like he's not too interested in that format, which is a good thing, I think. We've got enough of that floating around as it is.
Comparison is the thief of joy.

I just hope it doesn't have the same old mediocre PA397 filters... How about something different?

Dunno if they'd need another mono - they've already done MEK and Mopho, don't really see why they'd do another.

Me too. That's my main problem with DSI synths.

The mopho sounded uninspiring to me, almost fatiguing to my ear. Also I hope if they do something with patch memory that they don't overdo the amount of patches already in the machine as the ones in the Mopho really put me off the thing.

What does that mean? It has too many patch slots for you?

That's better than too few :yahoo:

No, all patch slots were full of over the top sounds that made my head hurt going through them. They all had the same sonic character too. Of course, that's not the end of the world as I don't use them but it did take time to get something I liked out of it that was different sounding to what the presets showed. I did get some good stuff out but it was too much work so I got rid of it.

Probably a Prophet 5 reissue for $300.

I take it that thing on the desk in front of Dave is the new device?

My bets on a four voice p 12 kbd or a mono p12 or a dsi monopoly...
