Anyone seen this company - GRP Synthesizer ?

Post by Alphacode » Sat Jul 19, 2014 4:00 pm

Just stumbled upon this website and WOW what a great Italian company doing fantastic semi modular Analogue synths , All hand made and VERY expensive !

http://www.grpsynthesizer.it/default.aspx

Found a couple of videos of the demos on Youtube.

Well worth checking out Guys/Girls :)

Yes,seen them before.

The synthesizers never got my attention,to big/expensive for what it offers/does.
It's not modular, not even semi-modular,as there is absolutely no patching options, except for some cv's and gates, and that's only for the sequencer part.

They are building a stand-alone sequencer.

Yep seen them around. As stated, a bit too pricey for what they are. For the kind of money they are asking you could put together a very serious modular system.

they're big and very pricey. Look great but there are some big limitations according to reviews I've read.

I toyed around with a friend´s A4 for some time. It´s big, it´s not overly intuitive to use (click-stopped switches for routing isn´t the most immediate method of working), it sounds a bit too modern for my taste -- and nowhere near as huge as its physical size would make you believe. The sequencer is quite nice and does some tricks not every sequencer can do. The A8 is even bigger and even more knob-laden...

You really have to want one if you are ready to fork out that much money for one -- these days, there are more interesting options around, espcially in Modular Country.

I put my name down to purchase one of these this year. I'll give you knobheads my best review of it.

From all the videos I have watched and the reviews I have seen on it. The capabilities are huge. Yes, no modulating CV, just routing, BUT, that shouldn't limit the tone you are looking for. You can always patch this thing into other synths to modulate the sound.

Please give a review of it, there is very little online about them. There was a huge review article w/ sound clips on bluesynths.com but they closed down a couple of years ago.

The site is back up (and very active), rebranded as "greatsynthesizers.com".

The A4 entry is here:

Offtopic: I also noticed that Theo is back doing great reviews on that site. It has in depth, and detailed reviews with lots of great sound clips.

Oh I had no idea they had relocated. I loved spending time reading their long reviews and listening to soundclips of Yamaha CS-80, ARP 2600 and whatnot. Thanks for the heads-up :) Looking forward to catching up with them.

Their Alesis Andromeda review was a main trigger for me to lust after that one. And I got one finally.

Theo Bloderer yes..I've seen his name on some Arturia VST soundbanks too.

Yes, their review on the Andromeda is great. I own one as well, but alas, my love for modular is stronger. I am selling the Alesis. :(

I have both my A6 and a big modular ^^ Don't have to sell any of them, really. Plus the Andy has one faulty voice that has to be disabled each time I power it on, so I'm not sure if anyone would want it.

Been thinking of selling the modular, but have now idea how to do it. I have zero ebay experience so noone would buy it from a 0 feedback user like me.

My gear list is pretty outdated I see. The Ion, Motif XF and Gaia are long gone.

just something to share and unfortunately I'm unable to figure out how to get this Instagram image to post, but here's the link~

it's the image of a GRP A4 used as a case-stack display for one of my favorite brewer's to showcase his new product line, beers called Mono, Stereo and Surround ...I've never before felt such direct marketing.

finn.no? ;)

muffwiggler.com/forum is the place to sell modulars.
You need to have at least 100 posts to be able to sell stuff there though.

I've never seen anything remotely modular on finn.no
Ebay has this "127382 feedback or i won't buy s**t from you" deal. MW has a 100 post limit to sell anything..why is this so hard.

I bought my RS-200 sequencer dirt cheap from a user on this forum though..maybe I should try here. Although most of the posts in the For Sale forum seems to be a barren wasteland of *bumps*
