Synthesist Deathmatch round 1
In response to THIS thread here's a poll to see who dies in the celebrity synthesist deathmatch. Had to tweak things a little as the board only allows 12 poll options, so I'm including the 12 most popular/recognisable nominations.
You have four votes, use them well. After this the final eight left alive will have another poll, and so on til we get our lone survivor.
You're voting for who DIES. Don't vote for who you want to live by accident because then there will be tears before bedtime.
The nominees are, in no particular order:
Yanni - Greek master of all that is soft and smooth
Wendy Carlos - Switched on the world to the possibilities of using synths to generate pure cheese
Vangelis - Another mononymous Greek smoothy
Jordan Rudess - Serial product endorser and prog shredder
Keith Emerson - Perpetually mulletted prog shredder
Deadmau5 - Wears a mouse mask and makes all the money so buys all the modular
Thomas Dolby - He blinded me with miming
Rick Wakeman - Is wearing a cape on stage a capital offence? Yes.
Vince Clarke - Why do people want him dead? Is it because Depeche Mode sucked after he left?
Jean Michel Jarre - Serial noodler and inventer of the only instrument more embarrassing than the keytar; the laser harp
Tony Banks - Made the Mellotron synonymous with dad-rock
Edgar Froese - Make sure you switch off his sequencers after you kill him or you might not notice he's dead
You've got three days to vote in this round, then we move on to the next one. May the best synthesist not lose!

Don't forget to TURN ON THE SYNTHESIZER. Often this is the reason why you get no sound out of it. - ARP 2600 manual, 1971

Kinda tough, musically I find all except Deadmau5 and Vangelis to be rather annoying in some way or other.

Tony Banks may never have hurt a fly, but he's made millions fall asleep during concerts for 4 decades.

Easy.
Deadmau5
1. for the stupid name
2. for getting credit for music which his contemporaries do miles better (mandatory imo)

You're not just salty cos he makes 100mill a year and has ALL the modulars?
Re: Synthesist Deathmatch round 1
Mouse would be thinking his tattoos might fool the others into thinking he is tough. When in reality they would not want to hurt him since he looks like he has full blown AIDS. Him and Dolby can mime fight each till Carlos forces them to motorboat her till they drown in their own puke.

Hahaha. The love of Jean Michelle Jarre around here is clearly evident.

I forgot about him. I would pick him before rudess AND Vangelis, but possibly at the same time as deadmous. My oh my... I think I have my 4...Jabberwalky wrote:Hahaha. The love of Jean Michelle Jarre around here is clearly evident.

This looks like a psychotropic reaction. No wonder it's so popular...
Re: Synthesist Deathmatch round 1
Wow people really hate deadmau5. I thought it was just a gearcuntz jealousy thing. I've never even heard his music before. Synth forums are the only place I even hear mention of him.
