I was sure there would be a decent answer along those lines. Was just in a cheeky mood (never out)

About 25 plus a large modular. I'd love to sell about half of the hardware synths but online you have to watch for scammers and locally everyone wants things for next to nothing. Laughable lowballs.

I have to really not like a synth to sell it because I just find it a lot of hassle. Everything I have now I quite like although its a lot.

I've sold about 50-60 synths during my try and buy phase and things I got tired of.

Alas, none. I've been taking a time-out and I got rid. Even in software I only have two synths - Loomer Aspect and FM8.

My interest is returning though, and at some point I'd like to get back into hardware, except it will be an informed choice and certainly no more than one or two quality devices.

I most recently had 2 drum machines, 2 analog monos, 2 digital polys.
Now I'm just down to my machinedrum and microbrute. I miss the stuff I sold off to pay bills but changing it up I feel really knocked me out of a period of being unproductive - I don't know ditching the gear I've found myself just plowing thru old jam session recordings and editing bits into solid loops and arrangements on my laptop.

If I really stretched the limit I could probably argue for 26-30, but I'll stick with 21-25.

Just done a count and come to 17. Rather more than I thought. How many of those actually work is another question entirely!

hmm depends if you count shitty little Casio's, Yamaha's, Monotron's, Volca's and other broken bits of c**p. If so I vastly miscalculated

I voted for the pro stuff I have not the toys.

But on second thoughts I guess a monotron counts the same as a Minimoog?

Or for that matter, a Minimoog counts the same as Hans Zimmer's modular?

Same situation! The Motif XF+ a bunch of VSTs replaced a whole lot for me. My Minimoog Model D may not have the most parameters, but it is the most musical and inspiring synth for me. Those 2 boards allow me to cover lot of ground sonically.

I bought Roland SH-5 in 1977 with 248000JPY at Ochanomizu Taniguchi Gakki in Tokyo
And Korg Delta 1980 with 168000JPY at Ochanomizu Ishibashi Gakki in Tokyo
Then I bought Poly800 with 99800JPY in 1986 during I was working at Korg with 10% discount.
And my last hardware was Roland D-10 with 99800JPY in 1989 at Mitaka Gakki in Tokyo

I was working at Korg from 1985 Apr. to 1988 Mar.
At that time I had made many sample sound of DSS-1 and also
developed M1's preset sound.

I suppose I should only count the ones I currently use. As I have 3 volcas and a couple of those min korgs gathering dust. And also 3 busted synths that need service before I can play them again.
In my actual rig 8-10 synthos and drum machiners plus a small amount of modular. Though to be fair the only sound coming out of the modular is a TipTop Cowbell. The rest is a bunch of CV/gate tomfoolery.
