hey does the jv80 cards sound better in the xp synths vs in the jv racks? or are they the same? I don't know why but I swear I read or heard once that they sound better in an xp80 but I just may be wanting to re buy my first synth, I have a jv 2080 and am thinking of getting the vocal, asia and 60's and 70s, it has room for 1 more, but a couple of the cards that I have in there aren't so great so they would get sold. blah blah blah. so, yeah, do they sound better in an xp80 or the same?

thanx for any feedback on this.

I can't do any better than recall from memory - but between an XP 50 and an XP 30 I can't remember any difference. The cards I had at the time were Vintage Synth, Dance and Bass and Drums. I also had a JV 880 at the time; with no insert FX, it was a bit different of course, but the two XP's were sonically the same (to my ears). I know it's not exactly what you're after, but hope it helps.
For what it's worth, the Vocal card is good fun, but a bit limited - once you get over the scat vocals, there's tons of choirs, but they're no "better" than the choirs on Orchestral 2 or Session. 60s and 70s is great if you play a lot of organ.

apologies if I wasn't clearer. Between the 1080 and the XP 50/30, I can't remember any difference. The 880 doesn't have the insert effect, so there is a difference. IIRC, they changed DACs on the next Gen (2080/XP 60/80) - still 18 bit, but it's the source of the "1080 sounds better than a 2080".
