Does Urzwerg support V/hz?
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

No, but you can also turn off quantization.

Also, what mod for the Dark Time? Are we talking s-triggers? The MS20 ESP can convert anything into s-triggers.

What's your budget ?

A 2nd hand EA-1 & Kenton comes in at £200-£240. You're not going to get much cheaper than that to sequence your MS-20.

$200-500?

I'd love something dedicated, like those MFB Urzwerg or the Oberkorn, but they're just so pricey.

I'd like something to sequence my MS10. I have the MS03 Signal Processor box by Korg too.

Or, you could just play it with your hands.

Or, sell it and buy a score of MS-20 Minis that you could play via MIDI...

Didn't you buy an Alesis sequencer yourself? How are you supposed to play other synths live to a running sequence, if you are using your hands to play the sequence? Why should he sell his synth if he's happy with it?

So the Arturia Beatstep or EHX 8 step doesn't work with MS-20?

BCR2000 running Zaquencer + midi to cv/gate converter might be nice.

No, they both operate as v/oct whereas the MS20 is hz/oct.

On an analog sequencer, why would that matter? Unless there is some quantizing of course...

ARE YOU STALKING ME? HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT I HAVE?

Okay, JK.

The MMT-8 is a MIDI sequencer that you can use for sequencing multiple tracks of music. I bought it so that I could record songs with it. And, it's MIDI. You know, for multitimbrality. For songs.

How am I supposed to play multiple synths in a live setting? Well, weirdly, I do that without sequencers. I choose what synths are going to be played at what time and then I play those synths at those times and record all of the rest. Anyone can do it if they want to make choices, learn their own music, and learn how to play. If you create your song in advance, you don't need step sequencers ever.

Of course, some people want to be spontaneous and make choices on the fly. I can understand that. But that can easily be done without a sequencer, too. Just play a synth and do what you want when you're playing it. Right?

He shouldn't have to sell anything if he's happy with it... but he wants to sequence something that is hard to sequence without buying more technology. If he wants to buy a volt per oct to hertz per volt converter, then there's no problem, right? But if he doesn't, what does he do? If you play with your hands, you don't need to worry about it. Right?

Also: I've owned three MS-20s. Three. I currently own an MS-20 Mini. I like it. In fact, I like it enough that I'm not going to sell it... unlike the previous three MS-20s I've owned. If he loves his MS-20, but wants functionality the MS-20 doesn't provide, he doesn't love his MS-20 as much as he loves something that would give him his MS-20 plus the functionality he wants.

I don't have an MS-20 but it might be worth elaborating on what Low Life said. That is - you can apparently use V/Oct on it by patching the keyboard CV from the mod (performance) wheel and adjusting the osc (& filt) mod amounts to scale octaves correctly. Use the perf wheel to tune. You need to connect the sequencer to the Total CV in. You might also need a cable to adapt for S-Trig. That's the gist of it, I'm sure you can search if you need more. Useful to know though, I'd say.
