EoWave Titan capsule modular synth??

Post by moodorf » Tue Nov 25, 2014 2:04 am

This is a follow-up to my poll: help me decide what should be my next piece of gear topic/thread. I've narrowed it down to two or three synths, but of these select few I'm having a lot of trouble finding info about just one--the EoWave Titan Modular synth.

Here's the somewhat cryptic description of the module:

http://www.eowave.com/shop/products.php?prod=1240
(For better or worse, whoever wrote the description for the website was channeling Jean-Jacques Perrey on 4 hits of acid)

...and a pic:

Tres Chic, no?

There are next to no YouTube vids featuring this synth, but here's one of the very few:

It gets a bit spacy around 2:40....

Does anybody here have experience with this particular synth? or does anyone at all have any experience with EoWave products??? Any input is appreciated!! 8-)

I'd never even heard of it before. Sounds really nice in that video though, moves from one sound to another without going through any bad spots. Price is nice too.

There's some chatter about it over at Muffs. Go check it out.

Apart from that, if you dive into modular, you'll outgrow that case quickly. My suggestion is to get a bigger case, then you can start with whatever modules you like (including Eowave).

There have been some quality control concerns with their modules raised on Muff's but at the price maybe that's to be expected.
I'd be interested to try it out though.

You mean the big thread with the fried LFO?

Always triple check Euro ribbons for the correct polarity!

Sure, but if Eowave can't mark their boards (not the only company) and can't consistently connect their cables then there are bound to be problems, Especially if they don't provide written guides for this.

In any other industry that I can think of potential (and predictable) malfunctions will be very loudly advertised to users. Not every modular user as an EE. That said, I am careful.

There was also some disappointment re: their Thru-zero vco and various grumblings I've come across. I would still check their products but would want to test first...

Thanks for all the input guys.....over all of these dumb threads......

but I ended up ordering the Pittsburgh System 10 8-)

I just couldn't find enough solid info about the Titan to justify the purchase. That and I found an online synth store that's selling system 10's new & $100 off the MSRP as a part of a black friday sale

I'm normally the type of person who laughs at someone who makes a big purchase he was really on the fence about simply cause he'd get <25% off, but here I am...
