my first post. I love this synth! but can't afford one on ebay they go from 1,000 to 2,000 bucks. I wish some company would reproduce this thing so that its within a decent price range. I love the wacky and funky sounds not everyone needs a serious sound. I can get out of it using the vst version and love how its sounds in the youtube videos. DARN. they don't make them like they used to.

Yeah, it should be fairly cheap to reproduce. I suppose back then, the Wasp and the Gnap were the cheapest synths around.

Yeah it was cheap to make, but they had a huge failure rate due to the quirky capacitive keyboard, apparently they had a big pile of them that didn't make it past testing.

But yeah the Wasp filter is awesome.

I'm not sure the likelihood of it coming back, but with Behringer talking about making an Arp Oddysey I suppose anything is possible!

Someone kind of did already! The original Bass Station has the Wasp filter. Chris Hugget, Wasp designer, designed most of the Novation synths actually. They're all great IMO he's an excellent designer. Might not be identical to a real Wasp, but if you're used to the plugin a real Novation will blow you away. Bass Station II is rather special. Much better than the DSI offerings IMO, but that's just my taste in synths. I get a lot of mileage from a KS Rack.

This would be wonderful. I bet with modern components, you could easily bring this into the $300 range.

But if you look at how people complain about the mini keys on the MS-20 and (possibly) Odyssey reissues, imagine the moaning about touch keys on a Wasp reissue!

Mini keys are a valid complaint though.. it's one of those elements that also renders accordions evil!

As long as it's got MIDI in I wouldn't get too miffed by the ridiculous capacitive keyboard ;)

Mode Machines also made a Wasp filter, but I believe they're now out of production. Coincidentally, I just got mine today (serial number 7, if you can believe it), a demo model from a music store in Austin.

This is a very good demo of the filter's sound:

It's a really simple circuit, you could build your own for next to nothing.

The Doepfer A124 is amazing! Very gnarly.

There's also this: http://www.vintagesynth.com/forum/viewt ... =1&t=75038

Not a straight clone, but looks interesting nevertheless. $$$$ though...

Is that seriously a VCS3-alike with a Wasp filter? Excellent...
