Great.
Elka Solist 505, Elka EK 22. Fantastic stuff.

Realistically (and we know this), it's going to be more workstations/organs, yadda yadda... no 21st Synthexes are going to be made.
Do you even post on vse bro?

From what I'm hearing, it's indeed going to be more Digital Pianos and that kind of stuff, but the people behind this have also talked about re-issuing the Synthex.Sir Ruff wrote:Realistically (and we know this), it's going to be more workstations/organs, yadda yadda... no 21st Synthexes are going to be made.

Re: ELKA ressurected!
Hm...well, the Synthex was a one-off project, Elka just bought into the idea of a single guy and realised his polysynth dream. Then slammed the Elka logo on it. They were an organ manufacturer, not a polysynth giant..and the Synthex kind of bombed too, being released just as the new digital era arrived.
And ironically that synth is the only thing people know them for now. Everyone knows the Synthex is "the laserharp sound" and not much else even though Jarre used it for all kinds of sounds on Rendez-vous.
If they do a full polysynth rerelease I'll expect prices in the range of the new Prophet, Roland and Yamaha workstations anyway. Way out of my league.
Or we could be getting a "reimagining" like the OB-12 when Viscount took over the Oberheim brand, and released a synth nobody asked for that nobody liked.

Re: ELKA ressurected!
At the same time they managed some kind of integration with the sound of their instruments. The Synthex has got tones in common with their other dco and later digital instruments, and their string synths. I think manafacturers often brought in new technology from outside, and then engineered adaptations to their sound. The EK44 sounds much more like the typical Elka sound than the DX7, for instance.Bitexion wrote:Hm...well, the Synthex was a one-off project, Elka just bought into the idea of a single guy and realised his polysynth dream. The Elka I remember was crappy analog e-pianos and string machines in the late 1970s.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Damn. I just sold an ELKA EK-22 this year. (I don't regret it though)

Re: ELKA ressurected!
What's wrong with Elka stringers? The Rhapsody sounds pretty great to me.meatballfulton wrote:The Elka I remember was crappy analog e-pianos and string machines in the late 1970s.

With mini keys.
With a "modern, futuristic design".
And an iPad dock.

Replicants are like any other machine, they're either a benefit or a hazard. If they're a benefit, its not my problem.

Hmm...sounds like a Casio organ preset coming out of a toy synthex-shaped box.Rokk wrote: WHAT IS THAT???
