This is more marketing and marketplace/price justification than anything else. Purely psychological - Look, we make these, and a few people will pay handsomely for it. It's a statement.

Steve Jones wrote:Congratulations Moog for a bold move and the release of such beautiful high quality modulars and for making it possible for those who do appreciate what you have built here the chance to own something as previously unattainable as a real Moog 55. They are a high-end product so they are expensive and as it has been since the 70's the people that are inspired by them will save up and buy one.
Agreed. As far as I'm concerned this is wonderful news.

Won't these new modulars be the most economical way for people with current Moog systems (including me) to add to them - S-trig and all? Plus you get a warranty! This is a rare opportunity.

The only problem is that you have to buy bulk (full systems).

Going to have to start saving my pennies now if I'm going to get in line.

Step 1: Win the lottery
Step 2: Get slapped silly by my girlfriend when she realizes how much money I spent buying one of each
Step 3: Change name and move to another country when she realizes how annoying I would be w/a set of all these :)

PS $76,300 would get you one of each of these new modular items. Buy all that, they better throw in a Voyager XL to control it all with. THAT would be a badass system :)

Let's see, how many expired-patent Moog-clone modules will $76K get you in any other modular format?

I'm thinking of a number between 1 and infinity. Now multiply that number times infinity. That's the answer.

You'd have to *really* want one to fork out that kind of money, and buying from anywhere but the US the prices will no doubt be extortionate. But cool product nonetheless.

Would be slightly more logical to sell modules individually, but when you have a reputation like moog's you can afford to be fairly stubborn minded. Still I would have never thought a Modular re-issue would come before a new poly.

Lets hope they have something new for us common folk too. :)

You can get the equivalent from dotcom today for less than $3000.
No thanks, I have my 15k invested in Cwejman - I prefer stuff that, you know, tracks 1.0000 V/Oct properly

15k!!?? We'll it must be worth it - it's got a Moog filter :o

They are all elite products, obviously not for the average Joe. Personally I have no desire for any of them. My DIY synth has 52 modules and cost less than 1.5k to build, including a duophonic keyboard, all encased in the finest MDF ;)

Every time I open this thread and see that I go "what? Moog has a new filter out?"
