It would be news to me that there's an arpeggiator in the E! board...? But then again I only have experience with a MK1 DX7 equipped with the E! board...

Where did you read about that arpeggiator? Must be somewhere. I scanned my Grey Matter E! manual before, but there's nothing in it. But I'm also not sure whether that's just the DX7 MK1 manual for it or a generic one...

Otherwise, how about a MidiPal or something like that?

There is no "classic" arpeggiator in E! for DX7II. It has "Player" mode, which is crude form of auto-accompaniment/arranger. It plays back pre-programmed sequences (up to 8 tracks), which you can transpose (and sometimes switch between different patterns) using lowest octave on the keyboard. I haven't figured out how to program your own sequences yet, but it probably is covered somewhere in the manual ;-) My main use for E! is memory expansion, so I can have 4 standard DX banks at once :-)

Is it possible to install E! on DX5?

Thanks!!! I already solder the battery and I didn't lost any patch. yeah, I have my 4 banks to store sounds. I turn the synth and I hear the volume low, then I wait and it started to raise. It is normal??? well, If E! don't have arpegiattor, what could I do?? Is there any midi arpegiattor for Dx7??? I really want to try it if it exist.

thanks!!!! :? :? :? :? :?

No, there is no arpegiator on any version of the DX7. You must use an external module that can send the arp through midi. The easiest way would be a software, or even a MicroKorg...
Considering parting away from:
-Roland TR707
-DSI Mopho

MidiPal

Then: "Local Midi off" on the DX7, put a cable from the DX midi out to the MidiPal, and back into the midi in of the DX :thumbright:

If you still want to use the DX keyboard that is.

Otherwise, yes of course software can do it even cheaper if you have the respective software already :D

Why not use the arp from your Command Station?
